We are happy to have such a great relationship with Normandale School, a well-resourced primary school located not far from our playcentre.

Much like Normandale Playcentre, the school is surrounded in beautiful greenery and lots of community spirit.

It’s the perfect mix of “little country school” with lots of opportunity for their tamariki.

Last week we were gifted this beautiful quilted playmat made by the school’s Envirogroup, (made from fabric donated by one of our members 🥰) the tamariki arranged the squares themselves. Our little ones will get so much use out of this playmat and love its bright colours.

Many of our whānau have gone onto Normandale School and absolutely love it there - if you are looking for a close knit school with a community-focussed environment, do check it out. 🌿🩵💚✏️📚

📚📸 From the archives !!!

In January 1998, three days away from opening following additions being made to the building, Normandale Playcentre was gutted by a suspected arson.

So much was lost in the blaze: many years worth of fundraising, Playcentre records dating back to 1957, photos of the previous Normandale school, toys, artwork, books, a piano, as well as a goldfish.

Playcentre whānau came together to clean up the mess and the community rallied together, organising a gala to support the rebuild (which was also covered by insurance).

An All Blacks Jersey, signed artwork, a signed rugby ball, travel and luxury weekends away were amongst the prizes donated to an auction held at the gala to raise funds.

Approximately 5 months later, the centre was reopened. The original windows survived the blaze, and during the rebuild the annex was added.

Here are a few photos, found in an album at playcentre. Unfortunately the photos of the blaze aren’t labeled, so we aren’t sure who took them.

Our building has a lot of history, and our Playcentre continues to be supported by a strong community! ❤️

Here at Normandale Playcentre we have a beautiful, well kept and well resourced centre and the ability to provide endless play opportunities to our tamariki, however this wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support of our whanau and friends.

Donations and fundraising are heavily relied upon to keep our centre thriving.

After receiving a lot of good feedback following last winter’s pie fundraiser, we decided to give it another go - so we are selling Family Pies made by Centa Bakery in Waterloo.

A whole range of both savoury and dessert pies are available. All pies contain real meat & vegetable filling, and are a minimum of 600 grams in weight. They are freeze-thaw stable and can be frozen and reheated later without losing their quality.
**Please note: pies contain egg wash, are not gluten free and may contain traces of nuts and sesame seeds

All pies are $14 each. Orders can be placed a number of ways: by completing and returning the order form, through any of our current playcentre members, or by emailing us at [email protected].

Please note that orders must be placed and payment made (via online banking) prior to Friday 7th August. Delivery to Playcentre will be on Thursday 20th August.

We think this is a great way to have a few easy dinners sorted while supporting us at the same time. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Thank you to our generous community! 💜💛

Mānawatia a Matariki from Normandale Playcentre ⭐️

In the lead up to this special occasion we have enjoyed many Matariki themed crafts, stories and waiata.

We also decorated for our recent Matariki themed whānau evening. Check out the stars that our tamariki decorated!

Have a relaxing long weekend with friends and whānau.
