✨ We have some exciting news to share! ✨
This month, our tamariki at All About Children- Naenae, Lower Hutt took on a creative challenge inspired by the incredible artist Vincent Van Gogh 🎨
After exploring his famous works, especially The Starry Night, we created our very own masterpiece using a range of tools, paints and even our hands. The process was full of creativity, collaboration and expression, with tamariki experimenting with colour, texture and movement just like Van Gogh himself.
Art experiences like this support so many areas of learning, encouraging imagination, building fine motor skills while helping tamariki communicate and connect with one another.
After adding the final touches (including a little sparkle ✨) the artwork was submitted… and we are so proud to share that we WON the competition!! 🏆
Tino pai tamariki!! We are so proud of the effort, creativity, and teamwork. We can’t wait to see what you create next with your art prize pack! 💛

⚖️ Standing Up for Pay Equity and Democracy
Whānau Manaaki Board Chair Martin Robinson proudly represented our association at the launch of the People’s Select Committee—a cross-party group of former MPs gathering public evidence on pay equity for women workers.
This initiative comes after the government rushed through changes to pay equity law under urgency—with no public input, no notice, and no official advice.
👥 Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens was invited to participate as an organisation that regularly advocates for the rights of tamariki and whānau.
Martin described it as “an honour to support both pay equity and proper democratic process.”
Led by Dame Marilyn Waring, the committee includes respected former MPs from across the political spectrum, and will hold public hearings—including via Zoom—starting this August.
🗣️ It’s a powerful reminder that our voices matter. Let’s make sure they’re heard.
