🌿 Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2026 | 14–20 September 🌿Theme: Ake, Ake, Ake — A Forever Language
Kia ora Whānau! Gracefield School is excited to celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori next week! We have an action-packed week planned filled with waiata, games, and te reo Māori moments. Here’s how our tamariki and whānau can get involved:
☀️ Morning Together (Daily)
Start your day with us! Join our school community in the Quad (or Hall if wet) each morning to say our Karakia Tīmatanga, move with Jump Jam, and sing a waiata together. Whānau are warmly invited to join in!
🗣️ Reo Moments & Wero (Challenge)
Keep an eye on our page for video clips of our tamariki sharing daily kupu (words & phrases). Tamariki caught practicing these words around the school will earn a Reo Moment card for a special prize draw at the end of the week!
🎯 Lunchtime Games & Activities (12:40 PM – 1:15 PM)
Tamariki can try their hand at traditional games like rākau (stick games), 5 stones, and string games.
👉 Whānau Call-Out: We would love parents, grandparents, and caregivers to join us! If you can drop in to play games or lead a small activity (such as raranga/weaving), please let us know your availability.
