What a EPIC day at the Wairua Zone Cross Country! Our tamariki did an amazing job representing our school today. We are so proud of each and every one of them for giving it their best and showing determination right to the finish line.

Cross country is tough, and they should all be so proud of the effort, resilience, and sportsmanship they showed today. Well done team!

A huge thank you as always to our amazing whānau helpers. We truely appreciate your time, encouragement, and help. We couldn't do it without you!

Just a reminder that Wheels Day is tomorrow!

Children are welcome to bring along their bikes, scooters, skateboards, or other wheels. Please ensure helmets are worn and all items are clearly named.

We’re also having a “Dress Your Wheels” competition for anyone who would like to join in - so feel free to get creative and decorate those wheels!

We’re looking forward to a fun-filled day!

A Heartfelt Thank You: Poi Making Workshop

A massive thank you to all the whānau who joined us for our Poi Making Workshop! It was wonderful to see our community come together. It wasn't just about the wool and the stuffing; it was about the mahi tahi (working together).

Events like these are vital for strengthening the bond between home and school. By participating, you help us breathe life into our curriculum and ensure our students feel supported in their cultural identity.

Ngā mihi nui for your time, your energy, and your nimble fingers! We look forward to seeing those poi in action at Hutt Fest!

The Beat Goes On: Strike Percussion Hits the School!
Last week, our students were treated to a high-energy, floor-shaking experience as the world-renowned Strike Percussion took over our hall.

While an EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) experience usually involves a bus ride, we brought the "trip" to us! This "in-school excursion" served as a powerful enrichment of our music and performance curriculum, giving students a front-row seat to professional-level rhythm, choreography, and stagecraft.

A Legacy of Rhythm
Strike isn't just a local favourite; they have spent over 25 years building a fierce reputation both in New Zealand and overseas for their theatrical and powerful performances. Having performed their youth and education shows to over a million children worldwide, their expertise in engaging young minds is second to none.

Why it Mattered
This visit was more than just a concert. It allowed our students to witness:

Theatrical Percussion: Seeing how movement and music blend to create a visual spectacle.

Professional Artistry: Learning from a group that has toured the globe, inspiring our own aspiring musicians.

Curriculum Connections: Deepening their understanding of rhythm, dynamics, and ensemble work without leaving the school grounds.

It was a fantastic day of loud, proud, and rhythmic learning. Seeing the students’ faces light up as the drums boomed was a reminder of why live performance is such a vital part of their creative education. A huge thank you to the Strike team for bringing energy to our doorstep!
