Cross Country is on tomorrow, we will start at 1:30pm.

Unfortunately we have had to postpone cross country due to the weather!!
New date:
📅Tuesday 12th May at 1:30pm.

Our school cross country is on next Wednesday 6th May 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻
Our ākonga have been busy practicing most days and building up their ability in running the distance!

📅 Details
-As a school we will walk to the start line which is at Fraser park carpark.
Races begin at approx 11:20am
Order of races:
-Year 8 Boys
-Year 8 Girls
-Year 7 Boys
-Year 7 Girls

Whānau are welcome to come along and support!🥰

👩🏽‍🏫We will have staff positioned around the track to encourage our kids and keep them on track!

🎖️The top 5 in each group will get to compete at WRISSA Cross Country on the 20th May at Harcourt Park.

Looking forward to seeing all our ākonga giving it a go!

📢School Update: We are OPEN Wednesday, 22 April 📢

Following the recent severe weather across the region, we would like to confirm that Avalon Intermediate School will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, 22 April.

While we are looking forward to seeing our ākonga | students back in the classroom, our primary concern is the safety of our community. Please take note of the following as you plan your commute:

☔️Many roads still have surface flooding, debris, or may be down to single lanes. Please allow extra time for your journey and drive to the conditions.

🚌If your specific route to school is compromised by slips or flooding, or if you feel it is unsafe to travel, please prioritise your safety and stay home. Just let the office know as per our usual absence process.

Our thoughts are with all of our whānau who have been affected by this storm. We hope you and your loved ones have remained safe and dry during this event.

📢 AVALON INTERMEDIATE CLOSED TOMORROW: TUESDAY 21 APRIL

Given the current State of Emergency, the Red Heavy Rain Warning, and the significant flooding risk across the Hutt Valley, we have made the decision to close the school tomorrow, Tuesday 21 April.

With these hazardous conditions, we believe the safest place for our students tomorrow is at home, staying warm and dry with their families.

🫶 Please stay safe, stay home, and look after one another.
🔔 We will update you tomorrow afternoon regarding Wednesday.

Just a quick update regarding the heavy rain and our plans for the rest of the day. We understand the weather is causing some disruption, so if you would like to collect your ākonga early today, you are more than welcome to do so.
