Our tamariki got the opportunity to lead story time, patiently waiting for their turn while building confidence, communication, listening, and leadership skills along the way!

Last week in the Tui Room, tamariki explored ways to manage their emotions using the “smell the rose, blow the candle” breathing technique 🌹🕯️
Real experiences like these create meaningful and memorable learning moments.
It was lovely to see everyone patiently waiting for their turn and enjoying the experience together.

The Tui room was filled with laughter and excitement during our DANCE PARTY!!! 💃🕺👯♀️👯♂️
We danced to our favourite songs like Shake It Off, Crazy Frog, and Danny Go, and had so much fun playing The Floor is Lava 🌋 and Freeze Dance 🥶. Our tamariki gave it their all, climbing, crawling, jumping, spinning, swaying, and moving with confidence and joy.
One special moment was our “Choochoo Train” dance, where everyone moved together in one long line. It was beautiful to see their teamwork and connection.
Dance and movement is such an important part of learning in ECE as it helps tamariki build coordination, confidence, listening skills, creativity and self expression, and social connections — all while having fun! ✨

Today, we are celebrating Children’s Book Day. 📖
Our wonderful tamariki came in their favorite characters. We had heroes, princesses, firefighters, and even pirates and tractors! They strut down the runway during our fabulous Fashion Show. ✨ We also had fun storytelling sessions with our lovely Kaiako! 🤓📚📖
Wonderful job, tamariki! 🩷

Today, our tamariki had an exciting game called Tower Smash, where they built towers out of blocks and knocked them off with balls. As tamariki kicked, ran, threw, and caught the balls, they are developing their gross motor skills, as well as their physical skills; agility, balance, speed, and coordination.
As they carefully and strategically stacked the blocks and built these towers, they are working on their fine motor skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
What a fun way to end the week! ⚽️🏀⛹️⛹️♀️

Celebrating Chinese New Year with a special lunch! 🥗 We made some delicious dumplings and were lucky enough to have one of our grandma’s to come and help us. Happy Chinese New Year everyone 🧧

🎨✨Our tamariki explored pastels and dye, experimenting with blending shades, making patterns, and turning simple materials into beautiful pieces of art. Through this learning experience, they were strengthening their fine motor skills, expressing their ideas, and gaining confidence in their own unique creations.
We love watching imagination come to life, every artwork tells a story 🌈
