It’s NZ Maths Week! 🎉

Did you know that many of our House of Science kits are packed with rich, hands-on mathematical learning opportunities?

Think integration – science gives maths a real-world purpose and context. :)

Science investigations naturally involve:

Measuring length, volume, time, and temperature
Counting, sorting, and recording data
Graphing results and interpreting findings
Identifying patterns and making predictions

Why not book a kit for the next cycle? Get in touch if you'd like suggestions that connect with the maths concepts you're teaching right now, or use a science context to revisit and reinforce skills your students have already explored this year.

Last week we had a special celebration, with huge thanks to Volunteer Wellington Te Puna Tautoko.
Our Hutt and Wellington House of Science Volunteer Team was chosen as a recipient of the Mahi Aroha morning tea shout. :)
Here is part of the nomination:
This was a group of over 15 dedicated volunteers whose commitment has had an incredible impact on science education across our region.
Their role has been to replenish, maintain, and distribute over 40 hands-on science kits each cycle, ensuring schools have high-quality resources that are ready to use in classrooms.
What makes this team truly exceptional is their unwavering dedication. A couple of the Hutt volunteers have been with House of Science for more than 10 years!
They are caring, hardworking, and bring a sense of fun that makes them an absolute pleasure to work alongside. With the big merge recently, we have lost a number of these volunteers (especially from Wellington) but we want to acknowledge them as well!

An outstanding team and incredibly deserving of this nomination!

Exciting times! We’re now all settled into our new base in Avalon, which is home to the Wellington Regional Branch—a merger of our Wellington, Hutt Valley, Horowhenua, and Wairarapa branches.
:) We have a new Regional Manager, Bob Maxwell, along with Alison and Jono as Resource Assistants, and Kristina managing stock inventory.

We’re currently looking for a Resource Assistant to join the team. The role is part-time (hours to be negotiated) and involves delivering kits across the Wellington region and replenishing them.
