Yesterday we were lucky to be invited to watch the year 9 Drama students performing a shadow puppet show. They were retelling some old classics, like The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs and The Tortoise and the Hare.

Afterwards, we even got to have a go with the puppets ourselves. This was such a cool opportunity to experience something new and also to be a part of our wider Waiopehu College community. Thank you, Bronya, for the invitation. We had a great time!

Ngà tamariki at Arohanui are currently enjoying exploring physical challenges, gross motor skills, and spatial awareness. Some are working on their co-ordination and others are consolidating these skills. Risk taking and challenging their bodies are of great interest, with dispositions of courage, confidence, perseverance and determination being explored and conquered

As some of our whānau may know the kaiako at Arohanui are participating in PAWGUST this August! On Friday afternoon our tamariki got on board and we set off on a hikoi! Check out how far we got! A long the way we stopped for some running races, exercises, and we even had a rest, relaxing looking up at the sky! Keep an eye out for more of our adventures! We are so proud of our tamariki efforts!

HOLY MOLY!! We've already smashed our target of 125km and it's only the 9th of August!

If you can, please support us by making a small donation to our team 'Arohanui Hearts and Hounds' and share this post with your friends and whānau.

I've gone barking mad, and I'm taking part in the PAWGUST challenge to raise funds for Blind Low Vision NZ Guide Dogs. Rain, hail or shine, this August, I will be pounding the pavement! Some days will be RUFF but it's for a great cause. PAWlease will your help me get across the finish line with my t...

This month the kaiako at Arohanui Kindergarten are on the move!

Don't worry, we're not actually going anywhere but we have all pledged to walk 125km during the month of August to raise money for the Low Vision and Blind community. We've set a goal of $1000, just 10% of what it costs to train a single Seeing Eye Dog, and we're already a third of the way there!!

You can support us by sharing this post and donating if you are able to.

Stay tuned for updates, including some walking adventures with our tamariki, over the next few weeks ✨️

A lovely morning spent in the sunshine! ☀️ Ngā tamariki enjoyed developing their numeracy and literacy skills while practising turn-taking as they shared the clipboards and number boards. They were proud to share and talk about their drawings once they had finished. They continue to develop their imagination and appreciate their peers and their own mahi 🤍

Earlier this year we were lucky to be chosen by The Values Trust to be the recipients of one of their beautiful Little Libraries.

Last week we were so excited to take delivery of three gorgeous, nature-inspired shelves and 24 brand new books. Today, we were even more excited to share this taonga with our tamariki.

We unpacked the books together and the tamariki got to choose which ones went on the shelves. We love a good book at Arohanui Kindergarten so we are rapt to have so many new ones to choose from!

Thank you so much to the amazing team at The Values Trust. Not only for thinking of our little community but for being true champions of childhood literacy in Aotearoa New Zealand. We love you guys and the incredible mahi you do ❤️

Check out the mini makeover we've had at Arohanui Kindergarten! Over the past week we have been busy cleaning, rearranging and setting up some great new resources so that we are ready to be creative at a moment's notice.

The Visual Arts are such an important part of the Early Childhood curriculum, supporting our tamariki to develop many critical skills from gross and fine motor control and early literacy skills to self-expression and creativity and imagination.

We are so excited to be able to offer our tamariki a space where they can explore their creativity and have it on display for everyone to see. We will be adding to our gallery regularly, so please take some time to check out our beautiful mahi toi.
