Korokoro Playcentre is a parent co-operative. We believe that parents are the first and best educators of their children. As a result, our Playcentre offers quality early childhood education and is a fantastic place for your child to have fun, learn great skills and get enjoyment from interacting with other children and adults. As well as education for the children, Playcentre offers free Parent E
ducation (inc. an NZQA recognised programme) to all participating parents. Workshops cover everything from how to extend the use of play areas to the intricacies of child development and behaviour. Our ratio is one adult to five children, but is frequently more like one adult to three children. Play is set up or available throughout the session and includes areas such as playdough, arts and crafts, painting, baking, storytime, puzzles, dress-ups, role playing, sandpit, slide, climbing, bikes, obstacle courses, waterplay etc. We love going on trips out into the community and examples of past trips are: Organic blueberry picking, Harcourt Park, Petone Beach, The Dowse Art Gallery, Wellington Zoo, Percy’s Scenic Reserve, Lower Hutt Library Storytime, local bush walks, Gymnasiums, Avalon Bike Track and many many more. Korokoro Playcentre is a focal part of the Korokoro community. We have a fantastic relationship with Korokoro School, where most of our graduates move on to. Children love Playcentre for the variety and freedom of play. Parents love Playcentre for connecting with other like-minded parents and being a part of their children’s early years. All visitors are welcome to come along and see what we do before enrolling at our centre. So if you and your child(ren) would like to be part of our Playcentre whanau, please get in touch or pop along to one of our sessions for more information. We look forward to meeting you.
