✨ Matariki Whānau Evening 2026 ✨

What a wonderful evening of connection, celebration, and togetherness! 💙

A heartfelt thank you to all our tamariki, whānau, and kaiako who joined us to celebrate Matariki. It was so special to come together to share kai, enjoy our tamariki's beautiful performances, gather around the bonfire, toast marshmallows, and reflect on the values of Matariki—remembering the past, celebrating the present, and looking forward to the future with hope.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated vegetables for our delicious Matariki soup and to our generous local businesses and whānau who donated prizes for our fundraiser raffle. Your kindness and support are truly appreciated and help strengthen our preschool community.

Thank you for making this evening so memorable. We are grateful to celebrate alongside such an amazing preschool whānau.

🥣 Matariki Vegetable Soup 🥕🌽🥔
As part of our Matariki celebrations, each whānau kindly donated a vegetable to help us create a delicious vegetable soup to share with everyone. This special experience reflected the true spirit of Matariki—coming together, sharing, and showing kindness within our community.
Our tamariki enjoyed helping to prepare the vegetables, learning about healthy eating, and seeing how everyone's contribution came together to make one nourishing meal. Sharing the soup with friends and kaiako was a wonderful way to celebrate gratitude, generosity, and the importance of caring for one another.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our amazing whānau for your generous donations and for helping make this meaningful Matariki tradition so special. 💙✨

🪁 A Special Matariki Kite 🪶

As part of our Matariki celebrations, our tamariki created this beautiful traditional-inspired kite using woven harakeke(flax), colourful feathers, and pāua shells. This collaborative artwork celebrates the beauty of te ao Māori and honours the traditions of Matariki, a time of reflection, connection, and new beginnings.
Working together on this project encouraged creativity, teamwork, and an appreciation for natural materials and Māori cultural practices. We are incredibly proud of what our tamariki created together and the special place it holds in our Matariki celebrations. 🌟💚

🌟 Our Matariki-Inspired Artwork 🌟

Our tamariki loved expressing their creativity through a variety of Matariki-inspired art experiences. They created colourful kite collages, celebrating the tradition of kite flying during Matariki, made beautiful stars using popsicle sticks which they carefully painted and decorated, and designed glowing lanterns by decorating glass jars with colourful crepe paper.
These hands-on experiences encouraged creativity, strengthened fine motor skills, and provided opportunities to learn about the significance of Matariki while celebrating together. We are so proud of the wonderful artwork our tamariki created! ✨💙

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Day Adventures! 🦜🗺️

What a fantastic day of imagination, creativity, and adventure!

Our tamariki arrived dressed as pirates and spent the day making telescopes, colouring parrots, crossing a shark-filled ocean, and working together on an exciting treasure hunt. With the help of treasure maps featuring our outdoor area, the children searched for clues, solved problems, and celebrated their discoveries together.

The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, creativity, and plenty of pirate spirit as the children explored, challenged themselves, and shared in the excitement of finding the hidden treasure.

Through play, imagination became our map and learning became our treasure. ✨

Hanga tētahi koauau 🌿
Today we explored clay as a creative medium and worked together to shape our very own koauau. Through hands-on making, tamariki expressed their ideas, strengthened their fine motor skills, and connected with the process of creating something meaningful from natural materials.
So much curiosity, imagination, and joy in the making! ✨

Exploring, discovering, and having fun! 🐞🦋

Our bugs provocation sparked lots of curiosity as children used magnifying glasses to look closely, notice details, and talk about the different bugs and creatures they found. A simple invitation to play that encouraged wonder, conversations, and hands-on learning. 🌼🔍✨
