TE WAIŪTANGA HAS MADE HISTORY!
We are so incredibly proud to announce that our kapa, Te Waiūtanga, has made history! 🥹
For the first time ever, a kura from Kawerau has qualified for the Mana Kuratahi National Competition and our tamariki are the ones who have rewritten the narrative.
They will proudly represent Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau at the next Mana Kuratahi, held in Te Taitokerau in 2027! 🌿
Our tamariki worked hard. They stayed committed to the kaupapa. They showed up as dedicated kaihaka, and it showed.
They stood on that stage with absolute pride. They carried our WAIŪ values with mana and humility. They were united, focused and ready to give it everything they had.
And to come away with 4th place overall… what an incredible achievement! 🥹👏🏽
This is more than a placing.
This is a milestone for our kura.
This is a milestone for our tamariki.
This is a milestone for Kawerau.
Our tamariki have shown what is possible when we believe in them, invest in them and give them a stage to stand upon.

To those who prepared kai, dropped off and picked up tamariki for noho, sat in as kaitautoko, offered your time, shared your skills, helped behind the scenes and supported the countless preparations leading up to that stage, he mihi manahau ki a koutou katoa.
It takes a village to raise our tamariki, and our village showed up. ❤️

To our incredible tutors, your time, energy, commitment and dedication have been out of this world.
The endless hours.
The long nights.
The constant encouragement.
The patience.
The discipline.
The aroha.
You poured so much of yourselves into our tamariki, and what we saw on that stage was the reflection of all of that mahi.
Your talent, teamwork and loving hearts shone through our kids.
You have nurtured not only kaihaka, but future leaders.
You have opened a door into Te Ao Haka for our tamariki, and for that, we will be forever grateful.
We are so incredibly blessed to have such an amazing tira surrounding and nurturing our future leaders. ❤️
