What an incredible Planting Day we had on Friday! 🌿☀️
With beautiful weather and plenty of helping hands, our tamariki spent the day planting native trees and shrubs along the stream banks, continuing the transformation of this special area. It was a fantastic hands-on learning opportunity, allowing students to connect with nature while making a real difference to our environment.
It was also wonderful to welcome a group from Childspace Wilton to join us. We loved having you with us and sharing the day together.
A huge thank you to all of the parents and whānau who helped with the preparation on Thursday and supported our tamariki throughout Friday. Your time, energy and enthusiasm made the day such a success.
A very special thank you goes to Debbie for all of her incredible mahi coordinating the event. Your organisation and dedication ensured everything ran smoothly, and we are so grateful for everything you do.
The stream is looking absolutely amazing, and it's exciting to see the new pathway starting to take shape. We can't wait to watch everything grow over the coming months.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a memorable day. It was a day full of learning, teamwork and fun, and one our tamariki will remember for years to come! 💚🌱

At Mākara Model School, we are incredibly fortunate to have the support through grants of organisations that believe in investing in young people and their communities.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Four Winds Foundation, Transpower, and Meridian Energy for their generosity. Your support has made a significant difference to the learning, wellbeing, and opportunities available to our tamariki.
🏀 Four Winds Foundation – Thank you for funding a fantastic range of new sports and PE equipment. These resources will support quality physical education, lunchtime games, and sports programmes, helping our students stay active while developing teamwork, confidence, and healthy lifestyles.
🏫 Transpower – Thank you for funding the installation of new heat pumps in our Old School building. A warm, comfortable learning environment makes a real difference, especially during the colder Wellington months, and will help our tamariki thrive throughout the year.
💻 Meridian Energy – We are incredibly grateful for your support in funding new Chromebooks, a storage trolley, and a portable speaker and microphone. These resources will expand digital learning opportunities for our students and enhance school events, performances, whānau hui, and celebrations.
To all of these organisations, thank you for your commitment to supporting education and our community. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on our students, and we truly appreciate your partnership in helping our tamariki learn, grow, and succeed.

A huge thank you to Alice and Ngahuia for leading such an engaging and informative day, and to all of our parent helpers who supported the trip and made it possible. We are so lucky to have these learning opportunities right on our doorstep! 🌿🐚

What an amazing two days of fun and learning we have had with Mountains to Sea! Our tamariki explored the health of our stream and discovered the biodiversity living within it through hands-on learning and investigation. 🌿💧🦗
A huge thank you to Alice and Ngahuia from Mountains to Sea for leading such engaging and meaningful sessions. The children had an absolute blast while learning so much about our local environment and the importance of caring for it.
We would also like to thank all of the parents and whānau who supported the days — we couldn’t do these opportunities without you.
We are so lucky to have this incredible resource right here at our kura. It has been fantastic to be using the stream again after our wonderful parent group cleared the area and made this possible once more.
