This year we are combining daffodil day and Wacky hair day together on Friday 4th September.

The tamariki are encouraged to still wear yellow, orange and green however it would be awesome if they could also do their hair in a crazy way!!!

It is a gold coin koha please.

What a fantastic day we had last Friday for our school Cross Country! Despite the chilly weather, our tamariki had an awesome time running around the school, St Pat’s and the Neighbours Paddock.
We were so proud to see everyone giving it their best, showing resilience, determination and plenty of school spirit!
A huge thank you to all our whānau who came along to support and cheer on our tamariki.
The kids absolutely love seeing you there, and your encouragement makes such a difference.
Well done everyone, you should all be very proud of yourselves!

We have our old bike shelter free to a good home if anyone wants it.
You just need to remove it yourselves without damaging the court, or the daffodils.

The dimensions are 4200 long, 2800 wide and 2400 high (highest point of roof) (1900 under the eaves).

Let us know if you want it before it gets dismantled.

Today our Kakano tamariki had another very special Cooking With Nan session before cross country and we couldn’t be prouder of them!
Last week, while making pancakes, some of our boys added cinnamon to their batter and decided they really wanted to make cinnamon scrolls. With the incredible progress and confidence the whole class has made in the kitchen, Nan naturally said, “Yes!”
So today, the tamariki got to make their very own apple cinnamon rolls in muffin tins and they absolutely smashed it!
What makes this experience so special isn’t just the delicious baking… it’s seeing just how far these tamariki have come. Only three terms ago, Nan was preparing the measuring cups for them and providing lots of guided support as they learned how to use the kitchen tools safely.
Today, they are confidently reading the recipe, choosing the correct measuring cups and spoons, working independently, and knowing how to safely use knives and other kitchen equipment. (Not to mention they have also learned to not lick their hands while cooking, well, maybe that one’s still not perfected 🤫)
And perhaps the best part? Once they had finished, the tamariki were already coming up with all sorts of wild and wonderful recipes they want to make next!
That confidence, curiosity, independence and willingness to have a go is something to be incredibly proud of.

The senior tamariki are excitedly walking the cross country course for this afternoon!

If you are able to come down and support the students, the first race starts at 1pm.

We can’t wait to see all our tamariki taking part and having a blast 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

After three very busy and hardworking Environment Wednesdays, our tamariki have put in some amazing mahi to help get the playground ready. They worked together to spread the bark into all the areas the digger couldn’t reach, lots of teamwork, effort and determination!
It’s opened just in time for the sun to come out today, so what better way to celebrate than getting outside and enjoying our newly finished playground!
A huge well done to our tamariki, you have done a fantastic job, and we are so proud of you!

Kia ora whanau!

Here is the newsletter for the fortnight, we have had a busy few weeks spreading bark for the playground and the tamariki have had some serious fun doing it. The playground is nearly ready to be used again by the kids, we have a few things that need to be finished first.

Congratulations to Bex for winning a dozen of our fresh school eggs!

A massive thank you to everyone who wrote in all the different things they would make with the eggs, the boys have a few recipes they are wanting to try and make at school 🤞.

Keep an eye out for more videos as some of our seniors in Rakau are coming up with more ideas.

Mason and Evan have a competition running this week with the school chickens!

If you would like to win a dozen eggs, all you need to do is comment what you would make with the eggs, extra points if you put the recipe with it 🎂🍔

On Friday, the two chicken boys will go through the comments and choose their winners🐣🥚.
