The Ministry of Education has a strong focus on student attendance and have provided all New Zealand schools with an attendance framework to follow. This can be found on our website.
As we monitor attendance for all our uri we will be letting whānau know when their uri moves through the coloured stages.

HAI REO TUKU IHO - Online beginner te reo classes for whānau Kāi Tahu.
Hai Reo Tuku Iho is an 8-week, online, beginner level te reo Māori course for Kāi Tahu parents and caregivers wanting to begin their reo journey and commit to using te reo Māori in the home. The course is focused on getting you started with easy, ready to use reo Māori for your kāika.
The classes will be hosted every Tuesday across the 8 weeks.
Start Date: Tuesday 8 September 2026.

EDIT: We have had to close 12.10pm.
A heads up that we currently have NO power which means no running water. Which means no bathrooms under MOE guidelines without bathrooms and classroom heating we may need to close. We will keep you updated.

Location: Hāpuku School
Hours: 12 hours per week, 9:30am–1:30pm

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Kaiāwhina to support our teachers in working alongside our uri both in the akomanga and in the playground.
The successful candidate will:
Be a collaborative and reliable team member
Enjoy working with children and their whānau
Demonstrate initiative, empathy, and a positive attitude
Have the ability to self-manage and problem-solve when required
Be a New Zealand citizen or hold a valid New Zealand work visa
Be able to successfully pass a police vetting check, as required for all staff working in New Zealand schools
