๐Ÿ† BRONZE AT NATIONAL FINALS! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณโœจ

What an incredible achievement for Kaiapoi High School Year 12 Hospitality students Ella McNally-Cummins and William Hings, who represented KHS at the National Secondary Schoolsโ€™ Culinary Challenge Finals in Auckland!

After winning the Canterbury Regional Competition, the pair took on the best student chefs from around New Zealand in a high-pressure 110-minute challenge.

Their hard work, preparation and resilience paid off, earning them a Bronze Award using the internationally recognised Worldchefs marking system. ๐Ÿฅ‰

Boysโ€™ 1st XI Hockey Final ๐Ÿ‘

Our Boysโ€™ 1st XI took on Lincoln High School in the Division 2 final end of last week, putting in an outstanding effort and fighting hard right until the final whistle.

While the result didnโ€™t go our way, the team can be incredibly proud of their performance and the season they have had. Going from ungraded at the start of the season to finishing runners-up in Division 2 is a fantastic achievement!

A huge congratulations to the team, and a special thank you to everyone who came along to support them.

๐Ÿ† SSL DIV 2 CHAMPIONS! ๐Ÿ†

Yesterday our Kaiapoi High School Hockey girls finished their season in the best possible way, playing an incredible game to win the final 4โ€“3 and become the 2026 SSL Division 2 Champions.

After winning Division 3 in 2025, our girls stepped up into the Division 2 competition this year. Making the final was a huge achievement in itselfโ€ฆ but winning it was the icing on the cake!

What an incredible week for our Jazz Combo last week! ๐ŸŽถ

After an action-packed week at Southern Jam, filled with performances, workshops, rehearsals and the competition, our students have done Kaiapoi High School incredibly proud.

The combo performed at a range of venues throughout the week, entertaining audiences everywhere from cafรฉs and restaurants to a local library and primary school, before taking to the competition stage with a polished and confident performance.

Their hard work was rewarded with some outstanding results:
๐Ÿ… Gold Award โ€“ 3rd Overall in the Combo Category
๐ŸŒŸ Most Promising Band Award
๐ŸŽค Liefke Stakenburg was also named Best Overall Vocalist of the entire competition โ€“ an incredible achievement!

DanceNZmade โ€“ Our Creative & Committed KHS Dancers!

A huge congratulations to our incredibly dedicated dancers who represented Kaiapoi High School at the DanceNZmade Interschool Solo/Duo/Trio Competition on Sunday, 2 August, at Cashmere High School.

After giving their all in the final performance of our school production the night before, it would have been easy to feel exhausted โ€“ but they showed up, performed with pride, and represented KHS with outstanding commitment and passion.

We are so proud of your resilience, creativity, and determination.

Basketball Whelan Girls Senior Night ๐Ÿ€

Last Tuesday evening we celebrated our amazing Year 13 Senior Girls, who may have played their final home game for KHS. With the remainder of the season now results-driven, this was a special opportunity to recognise and thank them for everything they have given to our basketball programme.

Thank you to Bridie Herriott for your commitment, dedication and contribution to KHS Basketball.

We also want to acknowledge Skyla Brown. Although injury has kept you off the court for much of the season, your support, positivity and commitment stayed strong!
