I took my big girls for ice-cream
They were lil girls again
We were sitting & noticed people staring
This had me look at my babies a lil bit extra & then it dawned on me
"You know if I was none the wiser we actually look like we're not even related"
My girls began looking intently at one another, at me & then we all giggled

We're a multi-ethnic Whānau & it shows
But we're also multi-faceted with many beautiful layers within
All my babies are the most deepest people I know & for the most part - they have a huge supply of mauri that I can never get enough of

No matter who you are & where you're from keep your Whānau close & love them for who they are & what they're about - there will never be anyone quite like them 😍😘🥰

The Gregorian calendar brings the ritual of making new year resolutions - an exciting time for many all around the world 🥳

Although I took part in some of these practices whilst having time with Whānau I did find it challenging to wrap my head around these thought processes primarily due to being more embedded in Māori worldview - it was however time had and well appreciated 🥰

Today I started reading 'Atua Wāhine' written by Hana Tapiata and straightway it had me reflecting on the concept of making resolutions to strive toward for the rest of the year 💥

This book draws upon navigating our path through not only Māori worldview but moreso from also challenging the pūrakāu and knowledge we've had instilled
Not for the purpose to change kōrero that is fundamentally ours but to retrieve more indepth mātauranga that awaits the reader
The more I read this pukapuka and participate in the wānanga provided - the more I resonate with the whakaaro invoked 🤔

Having a whakapapa approach to navigating our ara instantly gives an understanding as to why we have ebbs and flows in life
Furthermore it almost gives a sense of knowing that all will be well - the different phases and transitional stages of ourselves isn't necessarily a good or bad experience let alone right or wrong - it's a natural process 💫
