Churton Park Kindergarten High Quality Early Childhood Education Through this, the cultural backgrounds of teachers, children and their Whanau are acknowledged and valued.

The Kindergarten programme celebrates the diversity of the community; the learning opportunities incorporate an introduction to different cultures through music, festivals, food and simple phrases. Children learn about New Zealand's bicultural heritage from teachers sharing their language knowledge, reading stories and singing waiata. Our teaching team is motivated to provide a strong educational

fun programme. The stimulating outdoor environment supports the teachers to achieve this. Along with engaging with us about your child’s learning we invite you to become involved in our kindergarten community. You are welcome to stay during our sessions and spend time with the children. If you have skills and/or interests to share with the teachers/children, they are always welcomed and appreciated e.g.: cooking/baking/craft work/gardening. There is always tea and coffee available so feel free to help yourself. There is a roster for parents to help with tasks to support the programme such as preparing resources. Along with this we welcome your ideas and feedback. We support the Before School Check health programme. Their coordinators work closely with the kindergarten and carry out their checks in the year prior to each child starting school. With our proximity to Churton Park Primary School, we have a close relationship with the school to help make the transition from kindy to school as smooth as possible. TERM DATES 2014

🌸 Hello Spring! 🌸
We’ve been enjoying the arrival of spring and all the little changes it brings. Our tamariki noticed that our windows were looking a little sandy and decided they needed a clean! 🧽✨

So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Cleaning the windows gave us a wonderful opportunity to practise teamwork, responsibility, coordination and caring for our environment, all while having lots of fun!

Celebrating Father’s Day at Churton Park Kindergarten 💙

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, our kaiako have intentionally created a warm and inviting environment where tamariki can explore and celebrate the special people in their lives.

Books about dads and father figures have been made readily accessible, inviting tamariki to share stories, talk about their own experiences, and reflect on the important relationships they have with their dads and whānau.

At the collage table, tamariki have the opportunity to create their own “Happy Father’s Day” cards. Through drawing, sketching and creating, they can express their love, appreciation and special messages for their dads.

These experiences provide meaningful opportunities for tamariki to express their feelings, strengthen their connections with whānau, and experience the joy of giving something they have created themselves. 💕

🌱 Spring Gardening at Churton Park Kindergarten 🌱
Spring is on the way, and at Churton Park Kindergarten, our ākonga and tamariki have started getting our garden ready! Over the past few days, we have been busy weeding and filling the garden beds with fresh soil.
Today, we planted strawberry seedlings 🍓. Kaiako intentionally provided a range of learning opportunities for our tamariki — digging the soil, planting the seedlings, transferring soil to carefully cover the plants, caring for our new plants, taking turns, and watering them.
The tamariki also learned how to use sticks and cautious lines to create a simple fence around the seedlings, helping to protect the plants from being accidentally damaged. Through this hands-on experience, they are developing an understanding of caring for living things, responsibility, cooperation, patience and respect for our environment.
What a wonderful learning experience for our tamariki! 🌱🍓 We hope they will take their new knowledge and skills home and share their gardening experiences with their whānau. Perhaps we will see some little gardeners helping out at home too! 🌿
