Southland Girls' High School Southland Girls' High School is a Year 7-13 girls school located in Invercargill, New Zealand.

Established in 1879, Southland Girls' High School is the third oldest girls school in New Zealand. The school has an excellent reputation for academic success achieving above the national average in a wide range of subjects. Southland Girls High School enjoys a proud reputation of producing many regional and national representatives in a variety of sports and our Performing Arts programme is well

known for producing an incredibly high number of performers across many genres. A roll of around 1100 students from Year 7-13, which includes up to 100 boarders means the school has a focus on community, while ensuring that every student is treated as an individual through the numerous opportunities that a combined campus offers. A strong pastoral network and the expectation that our students will demonstrate the school values at all times ensure that our students become resilient and well-prepared young woman.

Our first wrap up from Winter Tournament week is from our SGHS Junior Basketball team. πŸ‘πŸΌ

The girls represented our school with pride, demonstrating outstanding determination, resilience, and teamwork throughout the week. Their effort and commitment were evident in every game, helping them secure several important wins and a place in the tournament's top eight.

While strong defensive performances allowed them to control possession in their playoff matches, they were unfortunate not to capitalise on more scoring opportunities.

Finishing 8th out of 36 teams across the A and B grades is an amazing achievement to celebrate and it reflects the tremendous growth and dedication of the team this season.

We also enjoyed seeing the other Southland school teams in action throughout the week. Their strong performances and the way they represented Southland with pride were a real credit to the region.

Well done, girls. Your school community is incredibly proud of you! β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ€

Thank you to everyone who got involved in Purple Power Month and helped make it such a success.

One of the highlights was our "Iconic Women" dress-up day, and it was wonderful to see so many people embracing the theme, especially our staff!

Throughout the month, we welcomed inspiring visitors, held a range of activities, and celebrated initiatives focused on empowering our students and staff. The enthusiasm and support shown across our community have been incredible.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped champion the message of empowerment.
