This morning, our Murihiku Tertiary Academy students enjoyed an inspiring presentation from Alana Kilmartin as part of her Unserious Careers roadshow.

Alana is travelling around New Zealand visiting schools and sharing her journey, encouraging young people to stay open to opportunities and say “yes” to experiences that come their way.

Her message focused on exploring different pathways, taking chances, and understanding that careers do not always follow a straight line. A great opportunity for our students to hear a real-life perspective on building a career through curiosity, courage and stepping outside their comfort zone.

A big thank you to Alana for taking the time to visit and inspire our students.

Great to see student work making a real difference in the community 👏

A playhouse built by Murihiku Tertiary Academy students was recently donated (alongside a student-built dog kennel) to the Rotary Invercargill South Invercargill South. The items were sold, raising $1,500 for local causes supporting children and families in Southland.

An unexpected donation recently received from Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) to the Rotary Club of Invercargill South Inc, helped them to raise funds for two local beneficiaries. In its first graduation event for 2025, Southern Institute of Technology held the Murihiku Tertiary Academy (MTA) graduation recently, where the results continue to prove the success and quality of the programmes

The MTA operates as a cross-faculty initiative, involving collaboration between the Faculty of Trades and Technology, the Faculty of New Media, Arts, Business and Computing, the Faculty of Health and Humanities, as well as SIT Gore and Telford campuses.

Our MTA students hit the track at Teretonga Park, Invercargill, on 11th October after spending the year building and tuning their own bikes. 🔧🏍️
