Wow, what a fantastic couple of weeks it has been settling into our new under 2 room (Rūma Terehu)! The teachers have been busy providing the tamariki with a wide range of learning experiences that empower them to be confident learners 😊They've have had a fantastic time exploring the new outdoor space, where the bikes, sandpit, climbing and balls have been an absolute hit. Inside they have had just as much fun with exploring the resources, family corner, softplay and story times!

Well, we are 1 week into enjoying our new under 2 space and the new age ranges in our existing classrooms. Wheke have really got into some amazing activities for our older tamariki and loved having the capacity to really explore this new older age group and their interests.
Petipeti are relishing in their 2-3 year old space, where there are plenty of activities and new resources based on what our younger tamariki love to do, get dirty, explore and investigate and test their own working theories.
Terehu tamariki and Kaiako are loving their brand new room where our pepi are exploring their environment in an unhurried age specific learning environment that encourages curiosity, wonder and communication.
We are so very proud of our new room and our age specific spaces, there has been a shift in how each room now feels. There is a feeling of calm, and serenity within each room, which can be seen throughout the day through the tamariki and Kaiako. This has been a long journey, but so worth it. Thank you to all our amazing staff and whanau who have been so patient and accommodating. We do have limited spaces available if you are thinking about enrolling your tamaiti, pop into the centre or give us a call on 032170771.

Recently, the Ako Whā tamariki at Blue Duck Racecourse Road had a very special whānau member visit to give them a T-Ball lesson. What an amazing experience it was as our tamariki tried something new, challenged themselves physically, and had lots of fun along the way! Thank you for sharing your time and skills with us—we really appreciated it.

Today at Blue Duck Racecourse Road we celebrated Pink Shirt Day to support the 'stop bullying' campaign. All our tamariki and kaiako dressed in pink and we are enjoying some pink-themed learning experiences.

Right before the Easter break when excitement for the arrival of the Easter Bunny was at an all time high, we had a day of Easter fun here at Blue Duck Racecourse Road. We wore our pyjamas, explored some Easter craft activities and topped off our day with an egg hunt in our playground. There were some very excited children racing around to collect our coloured eggs hidden in different places. We hope everyone had a fabulous Easter break.

How lucky were the tamariki at Blue Duck last week. We got a visit from our local police. The kids were so excited to meet some of the heros of our own community. They got to see the cars that drive around, even got to hear the sirens. It is important that our younger tamariki know the police are here to keep us safe and have all promised to wave to the cars when they see them our and about. Thank you to the Invercargill police for coming to speak with our tamariki.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLUE DUCK!!!! Wow, today Blue Duck Racecourse Road turns 5 years old. What a journey it has been, we have had so many amazing families through our center in these past years. We celebrated by enjoying this amazing sunny day (summer at last) with a pool, some sprinklers and topped it off with cake made by the amazing Brittany Kelly. Here's to many more years to come. Thank you for continued support from our amazing family and community ❤️

On Friday our Ako Whā tamariki (4 year old group) at Racecourse Road went on an epic adventure. We took a bus to our Winton centre for a play and some morning tea before heading out to the Otautau Blueberry Farm. We had a tour of the Blueberry orchard, some busy blueberry picking and of course some delicious blueberry ice creams to end our day. What a fabulous day of learning, being out in nature and building connections to our wider community.
