Garden to table 🌱🍠👩‍🍳

Over the past few months, our little gardeners have been busy growing their very own kūmara. From planting and watering to watching them grow, the children learned all about patience, teamwork, and caring for nature.
This week was extra special as the tamariki harvested the kūmara they worked so hard to grow, each child getting right into digging in the garden searching for the next kūmara - we ended up having a great harvest!
To celebrate, we turned our freshly harvested kūmara into delicious chocolate brownies — and they were a huge hit! 🍫🍠
It was such a fun hands-on learning experience from garden to table and we are so proud of the curiosity, excitement, and teamwork shown by all the children.

👻 Halloween Fun at Hunua Playcentre! 👻

Our tamariki had a spooktacular time celebrating Halloween this week! From creepy crafts and ghoulish games to some frightfully fun dress-ups, there were smiles (and a few spooky faces!) all around. 🧙‍♀️🕸️🦇

We finished the morning with a delicious shared lunch💜

It was a fang-tastic celebration filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit. Ka pai, tamariki mā! 🌟

🍕 Shared Pizza Lunch at Hunua Playcentre! 🍕

Last Friday our Tamariki had a deliciously fun time creating their own pizzas! They carefully chose from a variety of tasty ingredients — pineapple, cheese, ham, and tomatoes — and took pride in building their own masterpieces.

Of course, the very best part was… eating them! 😋

It was a wonderful shared lunch full of creativity, teamwork, and happy tummies. ❤️

Today our Tamariki rolled up their sleeves in the kitchen and baked delicious cheese muffins, adding a special ingredient—onion w**d freshly harvested from our very own Playcentre garden!

This experience was more than just baking. Our Tamariki learned about where food comes from, practiced working together, and developed important skills like measuring, mixing, and patience while waiting for their tasty creations to cook.

From garden to plate, our little learners are discovering the joy of nurturing, creating, and sharing kai together 🌱

🎨✨ Today at Hunua Playcentre our tamariki let their creativity shine, designing beautiful spiral art masterpieces! With lots of colours and patterns, the felt pens were whirling and twirling across the page.

This activity wasn’t just fun — it also supported fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, focus and creativity. Watching each spiral grow showed just how imaginative and engaged our tamariki can be 💫🖍️
