🖥️ A huge thank you to Jason Finch , for coming in today to teach the children all about computers and IT! 💻 We had such a fun and educational experience learning about the different parts of a computer. The children were introduced to the CPU, hard drive, and even the heat sink.

It was hands-on learning at its best – the children were able to pull things out, put them back in, and even unscrew and screw pieces together. 🔧 They were fascinated by how each component works to make the computer run, and you could see their curiosity growing with every new discovery. 🧠✨

Jason, we are so grateful for your time and expertise. 🙌 The children took away so much from today's session, and it’s sparked a lot of excitement about technology. Thank you for making such a big impact on their learning! 🖱️💡

Stepping Stones to School: Fab Fours Explore Huntly Primary.

Today, a small group of our Fab Fours had an exciting school visit to Huntly Primary School!

Arvia was thrilled to see her big brother Cale, and Kallaye got to visit his big brother too. The children had a wonderful time exploring the playground, strengthening their sense of belonging and community.

It was a fantastic experience, offering these young learners a meaningful connection to their future learning environment. We’re excited to continue these school visits every Tuesday. Stay tuned for more updates!

This whakataukī reflects how these visits help prepare and empower our young learners for their next steps in education, ensuring they are ready to soar when the time comes.

Exploring Technology Through Dismantling Old Electronics!

Our children have been having a blast dismantling old printers, speakers, and computers. This hands-on activity sparks their curiosity and teaches them how things work.

By taking apart these devices, they develop problem-solving skills, fine motor skills, and teamwork as they discuss and explore the different components.

It's a fantastic way to nurture their interest in technology and STEM!

Tamariki bravely sampled our oranges straight from the tree.

Their puckered faces were hilarious—clearly, these oranges are extra tangy!

Almost there, but they're still a bit too sour to enjoy.

The tree, however, is looking absolutely fabulous.

Hang tight, we're just a little while away from a truly sweet harvest!

Congratulations to Jade for being an eager scientist and helping everyone get involved in science! Your enthusiasm is truly inspiring.

And Astrid, what a great friend you are! Leaving your play to help find your friend's gumboot was such a kind and thoughtful gesture.

Ka pai, my friends!

In the course of intentionally noticing and praising the attitudes and behaviours of our tamariki, we want to build a positive community between your home and the Centre.

Each tamariki is special and deserves to be appreciated for his/her unique traits.

By developing a system to send positive notes home on a regular basis, we as teachers will find that we keep our tamarikis' successes in the front of our minds.

Today, we focused on helping the children understand and express their emotions. We had a great time discussing different feelings and practicing facial expressions to match.

The tamariki did a fantastic job imitating various emotions like happiness, surprise, and more.

We captured some awesome moments

Tamariki are naturally curious and love a good challenge! Encouraging them to move things around and create their own obstacle courses not only sparks their imagination but also builds their problem-solving skills and physical strength.

Whether it's using planks, boxes, or other safe items, let's support their adventurous spirit and help them grow through play! 🌿✨

How do our children show rangatiratanga?

Rangatiratanga, or leadership, isn't just for adults—it's a quality our children demonstrate every day. Whether it's taking care of their siblings, showing kindness to their peers, or standing up for what's right, our children lead by example.

They inspire us with their resilience, creativity, and willingness to learn.

He tangata kei te mōhio, he rangatira.
A person who has understanding is a leader.

Let's celebrate their rangatiratanga and nurture it as they grow into tomorrow's leaders!

Our environment continues to grow, just as our tamariki do. This week we give attention to our flourishing garden in consultation with our garden experts, our children.

Together, we explore it's evolution, the value of our contributions and plan for how we can continue to nuture it now and in the future!!

🌿 **Embracing Kaitiakitanga: Nurturing Our Connection to the Land** 🌿

In the heart of our culture lies the profound concept of kaitiakitanga – the sacred bond between people and the environment. It's about more than just preserving nature; it's a deep-rooted commitment to stewardship, a responsibility passed down through generations.

Today, as we witness the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation, our connection to the land has never been more crucial. It's about recognizing that we are not separate from nature, but an integral part of it.

One of the most powerful ways we can honour this relationship is by instilling its values in our tamariki, our children. Teaching them to care for the environment is not just about picking up rubbish; it's about instilling a sense of responsibility, respect, and love for the land that sustains us.

So, to our tamariki out there who took the time to pick up rubbish today, you are not just cleaning up the environment; you are embodying the essence of kaitiakitanga. You are the future stewards of our planet, and your actions today inspire us all.

Thank you tamariki
