A little potion-making. And a whole lot of learning happening underneath. ✨

Through simple play like pouring, scooping and mixing, toddlers are building language, confidence, social skills, turn-taking and problem-solving… often without even realising it.

This is the kind of everyday learning we love to see in our toddler spaces: curious hands, growing voices and children learning alongside one another.

If you’re looking for a warm, engaging environment where your toddler can explore, connect and grow, get in touch with us — we’d love to show you around Oma Rāpeti.

📞 Message us or give us a call (092134292) to arrange a visit.

…because this deserves a separate post. 😊

For the past four years, our Daffodil Day Dunk has become a much-loved (and very messy 😂) tradition; and behind it each year are people who put in the mahi to make it happen.

A huge thank you to kaiako Stacey and Sasha from Drain Ninjas Ltd who co-organised this year’s dunk and brought our two teams together once again for such an important cause. 💛

And this year was extra special, because for the first time we had the Cancer Society Auckland join us in person!

Thank you so much to Melody & Paul from Cancer Society Auckland for coming along, joining in the fun and sharing the morning with our community. Having you there made an already special tradition feel even more meaningful.

Four years of dunks, slime, laughter and community — all for something much bigger than us!

A few favourite moments from today’s Daffodil Day Dunk alongside Drain Ninjas Ltd!

There was plenty of laughter, a whole lot of slime, and some very brave dunk-ees — all for a cause that means so much.

Thank you again to everyone who donated, cheered us on, joined in the fun, and helped us support the Cancer Society Auckland Cancer Society New Zealand. We do it all for love. 💛

💛 WE SAID WE’D DO IT… SO WE DID. 😂💦

The donations came in, the target was smashed… and unfortunately for our brave kaiako and our friends at Drain Ninjas Ltd, that meant only one thing:

DUNK TIME!!! 🌼🪣🤣

And this year we had a whopping 19 dunk-ees! 👀 Yes, NINETEEN very good sports took one for the team!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated, shared, supported and got behind our Daffodil Day fundraiser. Every splash, squeal and bucketful was for an incredible cause. 💛 Cancer Society New Zealand

And to all 19 of our dunk victims: you are absolute legends!!! 👏

And thank you, Melody & Paul (Cancer Society Auckland),for coming to join us this morning!

TODDLER DISCOVERY TUESDAYS

We’re opening our doors to local families for four FREE playful Tuesday mornings of music & movement and sensory exploration.

Designed especially for toddlers and their grown-ups, each session is a chance to play, explore, meet other local families and get a little glimpse into life at Oma Rāpeti.

🎵 Tuesday 25 August — Music & Movement | Rabbit Hole
👋 Tuesday 1 September — Sensory Play | The Hutch
🎵 Tuesday 8 September — Music & Movement | Rabbit Hole
👋 Tuesday 15 September — Sensory Play | The Hutch

⏰ 10:00am–11:00am

These sessions are open to the community, but spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.

📞 Please ring us beforehand to reserve your child’s place, 09 213 4292.

👩‍👧 A parent or caregiver must stay with their child for the full session. These are shared play sessions for toddlers and their grown-ups, rather than drop-off sessions.

🌿 A glimpse into our Nature Lab session this week…

Our tamariki are currently exploring plants, and this week’s in-centre Nature Lab gave them the opportunity to go a little deeper; listening closely, and beginning to understand some of the incredible processes happening inside something as simple as a seed. 🌱

What we love most about this clip isn’t just the science being shared, but how genuinely interested and engaged the children are as Kaiako Tyler explains the whole process. 💚

This is exactly what our Preschool Extension Programme (PEP) is about: creating opportunities for deeper, meaningful learning based on children’s curiosity, interests and growing capabilities. It sits alongside our play-based curriculum and is designed to grow school-readiness through these purposeful, meaningful learning experiences.

Our weekly PEP programme includes:
🎨 Arts Lab
💃 Dance Lab
💡Wonder Lab
🌿 Nature Lab
⚽ Sports Lab

Want to see our PEP Labs in action? Book a centre tour or get in touch to learn more about our Preschool Extension Programme.
