Our staff and students were so pleased to be back to a normal school routine again this morning, ready to continue on their learning journey for the start of the 2023 year.

With the sunshine back out again today, it’s hard to believe that just yesterday we were being blown around by the impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle. We hope our Owairoa Families stayed safe and weren’t too affected by the passing storm.

We have assessed our school site and after very minimal impact from the passing storm, we are pleased to announce that Owairoa Primary School will re-open tomorrow, Wednesday 15th February.

We look forward to welcoming our Owairoa ‘Family’ back to school tomorrow.

Further to an update from the Secretary of Education, for the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and families, our school will be closed for instruction on Monday 13th February.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will reassess this decision on Monday afternoon. Our school will reopen as soon as possible, subject to mitigating and managing risks.

Any updates regarding a decision about reopening on Tuesday will be communicated with you via email and our skoolbag app.

We were excited to welcome back our staff and students to our Owairoa Family today, as the 2023 academic year officially started. We look forward to another successful year ahead, as we embrace the myriad of learning opportunities that we offer here at Owairoa Primary School.
