Terrace Station Charitable Trust is set up to:

- preserve, maintain and retain for all people, one of New Zealand's important historic homes and associated farm buildings;
- conserve and facilitate access to the collection of station records and papers;
- encourage the creation of published works recording the history of the life and times of Rose, Lady Hall and Sir John Hall;
- maintain an extensive historic garden;
- provide education and enjoyment.

We will be ready with lots of plants for visitors to buy at our Open Garden Sunday this weekend. You will see our drifts of Hellebores around the garden, and you can take some away, we also have Trilliums and Cardiocrinums waiting to go to new homes.

At the end of summer, Kate gathered seeds from one of her favourite peonies, Mlokosewitchii (Molly the witch) and we have these for sale too.

Follow the signs from Hororata, we will be open from 11am-3pm and you can bring friends along with your picnic lunch and enjoy both in the garden. If it is chilly, and not too windy, a brazier will be lit to warm cold fingers.

Join us on Sunday for some time in nature. The trees are looking amazing and we have more beautiful spring flowers appearing every day! Kate has been busy potting up some of our special plants for visitors to take home.

The Hororata Village Bar & Cafe will be open and does a great takeaway coffee!

All shapes and colours are welcome in the Terrace Station garden!

In the maple glade, our circle, diamond and square are easy to find.

Join us on Sunday 6 September to see bright yellow dog-toothed violets (Erythronium) on show with the beautiful pale pink Snake's head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris).

We love when visitors share their photos of the garden with us. One of the Snowdrop Festival attendees had an impressive camera and here are some of his photos (thanks Mike). The close ups views of daffodils, hellebores and snowdrops and other flowers along with views through the trees show some of what our garden has to offer.

We're pleased to announce the return of a popular event - Public Roles, Private Lives: John Hall and Kate Sheppard at home. Join us to celebrate women's suffrage, take a journey into the homes - and hearts - of two of Aotearoa's influential suffrage advocates: Kate Sheppard and Sir John Hall.

Historian Kate Foster, great-granddaughter of Sir John Hall, and Helen Osborne from Heritage New Zealand will guide you through the private lives, shared convictions, and strategic partnership that helped secure the vote for women in Aotearoa New Zealand in 1893.

It is Snowdrop Sunday! The temperature might be chilly, but wear warm clothes and sturdy footwear - we have sheltered spots for picnics and plenty of chairs. Some homegrown plants are in pots and ready to go to your place, and the brazier will keep your fingers toasty. The gates are open from 11am until 3pm, just follow the signs from Hororata. Bring some friends and enjoy a wander amongst the huge trees at Terrace Station this weekend. Self-guided tours through the garden and woodland will get your step-count up in the most relaxing way.

Our Snowdrop Festival was such a great day yesterday. Visitors saw our spring flowers, had a lovely time with friends and left feeling energised by their time at Terrace Station.

The next event is Snowdrop Sunday on 16 August from 11am - 3pm. Drifts of snowdrops and hellebores will be looking wonderful - both in the garden and through the 17-hectare woodland. Kate has been busy gathering plants to sell, so remember to bring some cash and arrive early before they are snapped up. Admission is $15.00 for adults and children can visit for free (please leave your dogs at home). Pick up lunch from the Hororata Cafe on the way and sit in the garden with friends enjoying the spring flowers. More information is on our website.

Wow, it has been freezing out here recently! The mountains have a good cover of snow, and we really appreciate our wood burner going all day and most of the night. The early spring flowers are looking wonderful; we love to share our garden with visitors. Take a look on our website (link in our profile) and either join us at an Open Garden Sunday or gather a group of friends and book a time to catch up and wander. Just quietly, the Hororata Cafe has great food and coffee. See you soon!
