Kia Ora koutou,

Every Monday, our tamariki love walking down to the tennis courts for some active outdoor fun! We make the most of our space by practicing with hokey sticks, passing and kicking netballs/rugby balls, using hula hoops, and creating lots of fun games and activities together. 🏈🏐🎾
Nga tamariki love getting active, building their confidence, developing their coordination and most importantly, love having lots of fun with their friends!🩵💛✨

Nga tamariki enjoyed a hikoi to the park to look at the local scenery and big trees. 🌳. There was also tea parties and sensory exploration and creations with slime and cloud dough. Enjoying each others company, expanding and revisiting these experiences helps build sense of belonging to our community and within the centre while making friends too.

Kia ora Whanau, our tamariki have been busy this week with lots of activities to keep us warm and engaged. Even though it was cold in the morning we ventured over to the local tennis courts for some running and practicing our ball skills. Midweek, there was an abundance of birthday cakes made at the playdough table to celebrate our youngest Pepe’s 1 Year old birthday! And we finished the week with a mid afternoon tea picnic in the sun.
We hope ever has a wonderful weekend, see you all next week!

This week one of our tuakana, August, spoke of her interest about the Rainbow fish story. Whaea Tamara printed a picture of the rainbow fish for tamariki to choose to draw their own rainbow fish or to paint on a rainbow fish template. Tamariki of varying ages and ability decided to join in, and were practicing using and exploring with paint and brushes, while being creative in drawing their own fish with support of a prop/picture of the rainbow fish. It was wonderful to see the authentic representation of tamariki own drawings of fish when following a picture, and how engaged they were in learning to draw with pencil, learning to use space on the page and using colour choices. So proud of them! 😀

This week we had a small but great time together to celebrate Matariki. Tamariki sung waiata to whanau before joining together for a yummy potluck Kai, and enjoying time together. Tamariki had previously made and displayed art work linking to each star that hung from the ceiling to decorate our centre for Matariki. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Kia Ora koutou
Today we went on an excursion to our local Hikurangi Community Library, where nga Tamariki were supported in finding their own book to read and they also sat with Kaiako to hear a story called “Pooh the bouncing bear” . These excursions provide tamariki with the opportunity to explore books as part of early language and literacy such as practicing turning pages and looking at pictures that tell a story. As well as learning more about the resources within our community.

Hika Riki Matariki Festival!

Today we ventured up to the local school to participate in their Matariki festival! Our tamariki were the second act of the day, singing waiata, Tutira mai, Waiti and our Pepeha song with actions. Our Performance was well received by all that attended and enjoyed by all. A big Thank-you to all our parents that came to support this special occasion!
