Heretaunga Kindergarten High Quality Early Childhood Education Heretaunga Kindergarten is located in Ruru Crescent, Heretaunga, Upper Hutt.

Our kindergarten is part of the EnviroSchool programme which promotes sustainable practices and we are very proud of our recently achieved Silver Award. At Heretaunga Kindergarten the teaching team has six priorities for children’s learning: Building relationships, social and emotional competency, children’s strengths and interests, bicultural practice, whanau aspirations and sustainable practic

e. As teachers we believe that these priorities give children a strong foundation to be life long learners. Our programme is child led and follows both our curriculum Te Whariki and the EnviroSchool’s Kaupapa. There are many opportunities for children to take on leadership roles within the kindergarten with our daily Rangatira role. With our mixed age setting, support for younger children through Tuakana/Teina relationships with older children helps to embed our three simple rules of being respectful, being responsible and being safe.

Our tamariki and whānau thoroughly enjoyed listening to the beautiful story and music. It was lovely to see tamariki so engaged, using their imaginations with the story. A lot of fun! 🤗💕

We celebrated Matariki today by having ‘Matariki Breakfast’ together at kindergarten. Our Tamariki helped preparing vegetables since yesterday with their pretty impressive motor skills, peeling and chopping! 🥰

We all enjoyed yummy food, vegetables soup with homemade breads from whānau, pancakes with homemade berries sauce and warm Milo! What a lovely way to start our day 🥰🥞🍲🥖☕️
