Some of our tamariki at Tawhiti kindergarten play rippa rugby for our local rugby club. We have been following this interest here at kindergarten having our own games of rippa!

The children at Tawhiti kindergarten have been building some very tall towers with our magnet tiles lately. We took the opportunity to extend on the children's learning of mathematics, giving them a challenge to build their towers as high as the measuring tapes. There was lots of talk about how tall the towers were and we looked at the numbers on the measuring tapes and talked about what these meant. Some of the children also took the opportunity to measure each other, talking about who was tallest and who was shortest.

Over the last few terms at Tawhiti kindergarten, we have had Lisa from kids yoga pod visiting to share yoga experiences and learning with us. Each time we go on a different adventure and each time we learn new poses, stretches and breathing and relaxing techniques. Yoga provides a fun way to learn physical confidence through balancing and stretching, strengthening and coordinating our bodies. We are also learning about ways to breathe and relax which supports our emotional well being and self regulation. The children look forward to Lisa coming in and meet her with enthusiasm to join in and learn.

🎉🎉Today is the day🎉🎉
Kindergarten Taranaki is now officially Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens!

These are exciting times ahead for our kindergartens, and for early childhood education in Taranaki.

The joining of our two associations will ensure the continuation and advocacy of high quality kindergarten education for tamariki in our region.

Parents and whānau, tamariki and staff in Taranaki will benefit from the support and resources provided by Whānau Manaaki – a large and long established kindergarten association.

You will notice that our kindergartens signs have changed to have the Whānau Manaaki branding on them, but we want to reassure you that your tamariki will continue to have the same caring Kaiako each day at kindergarten, and benefit from the same high-quality teaching and learning practises that you are used to.

📢 We are on the COUNTDOWN!
We have 1 month to go until Kindergarten Taranaki officially joins Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens on 2 March. The joining of our two associations will ensure the continuation of high quality kindergarten education for tamariki in Taranaki.

These are exciting times ahead for our kindergartens, and for early childhood education in Taranaki.

🟣 Who is Whānau Manaaki?
Whānau Manaaki are a community-focused kindergarten association that works for whānau, not for profit. All resources go directly into high-quality early childhood education for tamariki. Both Whānau Manaaki and Kindergarten Taranaki are members of Kindergartens Aotearoa - a collective of kindergarten organisations working together to build a strong, enduring future for kindergartens and communities in Aotearoa.
