Congratulations to past pupil Lyneva Wagapu-Tuza for selection into the Solomon Island U16 Women's Official Squad competing in the OFC U16 Championship in September.

🇸🇧SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT | The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) is pleased to announce the official squad that will represent Solomon Islands at the upcoming OFC U-16 Women's Championship 2026, here in Honiara.

The tournament will run from 6th to 19th September 2026, and our young female footballers are eager to compete on home soil against the best in the Oceania region.

This is a proud moment for women's football in our country, and we encourage all football fans to come out and support the next generation of Solomon Islands stars.

Go Solo Go! 🇸🇧

🌸 Getting Girls Active! 🌸

Earlier this year, we gathered our students’ voices about sustainable ways to stay active — considering activities that are financially accessible, physically enjoyable, and easy to travel to. From their feedback, we applied for funding through Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa (through Sport Taranaki), whose focus is on getting more girls active, and we were incredibly fortunate to have our application accepted! 🙌

One activity our girls were particularly interested in trying was Pilates. Our Year 8 girls had their first session this week, and it’s fair to say it was a fantastic experience! 💪🧘‍♀️ The girls had fun, challenged themselves and learnt something new along the way.

A huge ngā mihi to Jamie from Hāwera Physiotherapy for coming onsite and leading the sessions with our girls. We really appreciate you sharing your expertise with our students.

Over the next four terms, even more of our girls will have the opportunity to take part in these sessions — helping them discover new ways to be active and build confidence. 💙

Our Year 7 & 8 students had another fantastic sporting outing today in Inglewood for the Rugby 7’s.
We entered a St Joseph’s boys team and a girls combined team with Matapu School.

Again our students represented themselves and our school in such a positive way, well done!

Our girls made it all the way through to the final, in the end coming second.

Thank you again to everyone who helped this day to be such a success.

Our Year 7 & 8 Rippa finalist from the southern tournament competed in the Taranaki finals day today in New Plymouth.

It was fairly chilly 🥶 but that did not stop them! Our school values shone through, such great teamwork and sportsmanship.
Well done to both teams.

Our girls team came 5th and our boys team…. WON the tournament and are the Taranaki Champions👏👏👏 - a huge congratulations!

Thank you to the coaches, supporters, those who transported and Mrs Gidlow for her amazing organisation.

Yesterday, we participated in the Caritas LIVE IT challenge. We really did experience what it was like to live in a shelter with the wind, rain and sun shine throughout the day. Students built shelters (and rebuilt them due to a 'landslide'), learnt to tie knots, carried water with leaking buckets, read a story about Adam from PNG and went on a prayer walk.
Big thanks must go to Yarrows for supplying us with bread for lunch, Ingrams for the bins and finally to all parents for bringing in tarps, blankets and poles to make the shelters.

Congratulations to Jack Ritchie, Aiya Quintus and Adalyn Quintus for their Jiu jitsu success at the NZ GRAPPLER West Coast Challenge which was held in Hawera for the first time. There were 400 competitors on the day, competing in July event.

Adalyn = Two GOLDS
Aiya = Two SILVERS
Jack = 4th and a 7th (at his first competition)

What awesome achievements and great mahi to get those rewards.

Our Year 5 & 6 (and a few Year 4) students had a fantastic time at the South Taranaki Winter Sports Tournament (known also as Bhana Cup) yesterday.

We were so incredibly proud of not only their sporting abilities but also of the way they conducted themselves. They truly lived our school values, congratulations!

Our Football team came second after a nail biting final against Tawhiti which went into extra time. Our netball came third, they went through tournament unbeaten. Our joint rugby team with Hāwera Primary came 4th, in a highly contested rugby grade.

We have so many people to thank - students, coaches, umpires, staff members, supporters and of course our PTF for all their work to be able to provide high-quality food and drinks for everyone to enjoy. We all should feel privileged to be a part of such a giving school community, this was a real team effort!
