🏅 Congratulations to Beverley Prankerd – Recipient of the FAI Air Sport Medal! ✈️

The Hawera Aero Club is incredibly proud to congratulate Beverley Prankerd, who received the prestigious FAI Air Sport Medal at last week's Flying NZ AGM.

The FAI Air Sport Medal recognises outstanding service to aviation through promoting air sports, training and mentoring pilots, and inspiring the next generation of aviators.

This is a truly rare honour. Beverley is only the 836th recipient worldwide.

Since joining Hawera Aero Club in 2018, Beverley has become the heart of our club. As Club Captain since 2019, she has dedicated countless hours to supporting members, organising competitions, mentoring pilots, running club events, and encouraging participation at local, regional and national levels.

She was instrumental in reinstating the historic Scotts Trophy competition with Whanganui Aero Club and founded our Young Eagles programme, inspiring young people to discover the joy of aviation.

Known affectionately as the club's "camp mother", Beverley is always there to lend a hand, whether it's welcoming new members, organising events, or quietly taking care of the many jobs that keep the club running.

Beverley's passion, generosity and dedication have made a lasting impact on Hawera Aero Club and the wider aviation community. This award is a fitting recognition of everything she has contributed.

Congratulations, Beverley, on this incredible and well-deserved achievement. We couldn't be prouder! 💙👏

Introduced to maps, measuring and maths!
Then a competition to see who could make the paper plane which could fly the furtherest. Mine was the biggest failure 😞

Today our Young Eagles visited a helicopter base and then the Air ambulance.
Thanks to those that gave up their time to show us around and tell us about what they do.

A large contingent from the Hawera Aeroclub attended the NZ Women in Aviation rally and AGM in Hastings over Kings birthday weekend.
Great weekend held by all.

Nice to see visitors from down south here at Hawera overnight. And we sure put the weather on! Sounds as though they’ve had a wonderful trip circumnavigating the North Island.

Great morning on Sunday with our Young Eagles - having a go at flying model aircraft and seeing how aircraft are built.
