Naumai Toastmasters

Naumai Toastmasters Welcome to Naumai South Taranaki Toastmasters Club. We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, meetings start 6.30pm sharp. Come and join the fun!

Meets first and third Wednesday monthly from 6:15 pm meeting starts at 6:30 pm at the St John's Hall, 184 Princes Street, Hawera. Through its worldwide network of clubs, each week Toastmasters helps more than a quarter of a million men and women of every ethnicity, education level and profession build their competence in communication so they can gain the confidence to lead others. Toastmasters co

ntinues to build on its legacy by providing a strong foundation for the future. Its proven educational program continually evolves to address the needs of the world’s communicators and leaders both today and tomorrow. Toastmasters members learn to tell their story. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback – and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership. They do this by practice and learning skills by filling meeting roles, ranging from giving a prepared or an impromptu speech to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian. There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in positive manner, focusing on what was done correctly and what could be improved. Great communicators tend to be great leaders.

Another member profile this week with our esteemed treasurer Nathan.

Nathan is a busy man between the farm, flying planes and volunteering, but he always makes time for his favorite hobby, Toastmasters.

Every Toastmaster remembers their first speech, first Table Topic, or first leadership role.

Growth doesn't happen because we're ready. It happens because we're willing.

Small steps create extraordinary journeys.

You wouldn't go to an unqualified doctor, or diagnose yourself- so why learn public speaking from watching inexperienced uncles at the family gatherings?

See us instead, and save yourself embarrassment later down the line.

Here is a sneak peak of the agenda from one of our latest meetings.

Opening, prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, cup of tea then feedback. Nothing scary, nothing alien 😅 just a fun night with good laughs and chocolate bikkies.

Take a chance, and show up for yourself. This is your sign.

Some of history's most important speeches were said with trembling hands and nervous words.

It takes gumption to stand in front of others and share your story. It isn't about talking without fear, but rather speaking despite it.
