We were lucky to have Josephine from the Hawera Library to come and share some resources with our Y1-3 children today. She shared some great non-fiction and fiction books with us. Did you know that you can also hire ebooks on your device or borrow a board game? The Hawera Library would be a great place to visit during our Teacher Only Days this Thursday and Friday.

Sooo, what on earth is Co****le anyway?
If you've seen our Facebook event for the SPA Co****le Tournament fundraiser and thought “Sounds fun… but what actually is cornhole?” - this post is for you!
Co****le is a simple backyard game where you take turns throwing beanbags at a raised board, trying to land them on the board or through the hole. Don’t let the word tournament put you off - anyone can play, and anyone can win! You don't need to have played before, and you definitely don't need to be sporty. This is really about getting a group of mates together and enjoying a fun night out - dinner, a drink, a bit of friendly competition, cash prizes, raffles and auctions, followed by some live music to end the night.
We've already sold a quarter of the tickets! If you've been thinking about getting a team together, now's the time to round up three mates and get registered. We’d love to see plenty of our school community there for a great night out - so don’t leave it too late!

Room 5 and 3 hosted today’s assembly. We were treated to some confident speakers, amazing art and a fantastic song featuring sign language. Ka pai tō mahi!

Thank you to Lavira and Bailei from Taranaki Vets for coming to school and teaching our Year 1 and 2 students about how to be safe around dogs. We learnt to always ask the owner before we pat a dog and to stand like a tree rather than run away from a dog.

Yesterday we were treated to the NED show. We learnt about resilience as we work towards our goals. NED = Never give up. Encourage others. Do your best.

What a way to finish the term! Puanga breakfast was a wonderful celebration today. Thank you to all the whānau who joined us and the many helpers who made the day successful.

Congratulations to the Turuturu Slam Dunks who came 2nd in the Hawera Basketball Association competition. Special mention to the Triple Threats who came 4th. Thank you to our coaches and supporters for a great basketball season.

Thank you to Rooms 8 and 11 for hosting today’s assembly. We had clear confident speakers who kept things running smoothly. Super art work and a special performance from Mrs Taunt’s recorder group. Ka pai!
