Thank you to everyone who came down to Guthrie Park this morning to support our budding Cross Country athletes. It was heaps of fun and despite the wind, everyone gave it their best. It was a lovely atmosphere with everyone cheering on each other and their houses.

Well done to all the students that achieved placings and good luck for the Interschool competition coming up! It was so lovely to see how encouraging our Senior students were to our younger pupils, stepping in and helping them along on their way. Thank you to all of our volunteer marshals and a big, big thank you to Mrs Chatfield for organising such great event today!

🏉 Karl Lowe Cup – Parkvale vs Te Mata School 🏉

Last night, the Parkvale and Te Mata School rugby teams took part in our annual Karl Lowe Rugby Match on our school field, a special tradition that began in 2015.

As always, there were plenty of fantastic rugby skills on display. The competition was strong, and the determination, sportsmanship and teamwork shown by both teams was outstanding. It was wonderful to see our players representing their schools with such pride.

This year, Te Mata School took home the Karl Lowe Cup. The trophy was presented by Mr Lowe’s father, who works at Parkvale. Congratulations to Te Mata School on a well-deserved win!

A huge thank you to all of our coaches for the time, support and expertise they give to our players. We are also very grateful to all the parents, friends and whānau who came along to support the teams and cheer so loudly from the sidelines. Your encouragement and loud screaming helped make it a fantastic occasion.

The story behind the Karl Lowe Cup:
Karl Lowe played more than 100 games for the Hawke’s Bay Magpies before going on to represent the Hurricanes, Māori All Blacks and teams overseas.

The boots featured on the trophy are particularly special. They are the boots Karl wore while playing for the Māori All Blacks at McLean Park against England in the 2010 Centennial Match.

A fantastic evening of rugby, tradition and sportsmanship. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Thank you to the Arataki Honey team for hosting us and all our wonderful parent volunteers.
