On Thursday evening we celebrated Matua Pona Tawera who received a Civic Award from the Heretaunga Hastings District Council.

For more than 10 years he has quietly raised the flag at the Mangateretere and Districts War Memorial despite an absence of formal organised services. We thank Matua Pona for his humble act of service 💜

An awesome day with our tuakana at the Hastings Art Gallery learning about printmaking! They were able to practice their art skills by printing a manu. This term, with our focus on Taiao continuing, our tamariki are researching their chosen bird to begin campaigning for Bird of the Year coming up in September. We’re looking forward to seeing which bird comes out on top this year!

Our tamariki had an awesome day at Petane Domain inanahi, taking part in the Coastal Cluster Soccer Festival. ⚽💚

It was their first time playing soccer, and they loved getting stuck into a new sport. By their final game, they had improved so much and even scored a goal!

Their positive attitudes, teamwork, and determination shone throughout the day, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Ka mau te wehi!

For our last day of term we headed out to the Maraetōtara awa to plant alongside the Maraetōtara Tree Trust. Our tamariki have been amazing at getting their hands on the whenua, giving back to Papatūānuku and the ecosystems that keep us healthy and thriving. Mauri tū, mauri ora!
