Your voice matters! If you haven’t already filled out this quick survey, now is the time! Share your thoughts on kindergarten and support us - plus you could win a $50 grocery voucher!

Your voice matters 💚

The Government is currently reviewing how early childhood education is funded in New Zealand. As part of this process, Heretaunga Kindergartens is preparing a submission, and we'd love to hear directly from our whānau.

By completing our short survey, you'll help us advocate for the things that matter most, including high-quality kindergarten education, 100% qualified kaiako, and positive outcomes for tamariki, whānau and our communities.

Complete our 5-minute survey here: https://form.jotform.com/261867157805063

*Prize draw: One $50 supermarket voucher will be drawn for each kindergarten. Winners must be current or past whānau of Heretaunga Kindergartens, and eligibility will be confirmed by the relevant Kaiako Matua before the prize is awarded.

If you haven’t already, grab a kaiako and have a chat about our campaign next time you’re in at kindy. Kindergarten is a movement! Generations of teachers and communities have made kindergarten what it is today. Come talk to us about what makes kindergarten different in the early childhood sector and why we need your support to keep it that way!

We’re excited to launch our new campaign:

At Heretaunga Kindergartens, we’re proud to have 100% qualified kaiako. Every child deserves every opportunity to grow and learn, and with qualified kaiako alongside our big, beautiful environments, our tamariki become curious, confident lifelong learners.

Right now, a funding review being considered by a Ministerial Advisory Group could impact how 100% qualified kaiako are supported. This matters, because qualified kaiako = quality education.

Through , we’ll be sharing learning stories, whānau voices, and highlighting why protecting qualified kaiako is so important for every child. Watch this space… 💚

Our ornamental cherry tree is in beautiful full blossom and is brightening up these bleak winter days. Not only is it a beautiful colour but it is a constant source of attraction for wildlife. First come the tūī, then the tauhou/wax eye and the bees. It has been a great source of rich kōrero about the taiao these last few weeks and a great inspiration for art!

At Parkvale Kindergarten we believe in the power of play! Play is backed up by neuroscience as the best way to prepare our tamariki for life long learning. Providing tamariki with opportunities to challenge themselves, use their imaginations and problem solve is giving them the characteristics needed to tackle life!

✨ This week, we celebrated Matariki by honouring the values of connection, remembrance, and new beginnings. Our tamariki helped prepare a warm, nourishing vegetable soup to share — a symbol of coming together and caring for one another.

We invited our whānau to join us and share in this special time. It was heartwarming to see everyone gathered, enjoying kai, connection, and kōrero.

Our tamariki also shared their pride and mana by performing kapa haka — their voices and actions filled our space with joy and wairua.

Matariki is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future — and this week, we did just that, together.

Ngā mihi mahana, and happy Matariki! ✨
