You can also meet our Student Support, Engagement and Children’s Centre teams, who’ll be there to answer your questions and help you feel at home at EIT.

Highlights of the Week

Reports from the students who attended the Massey University Open Day were very positive. Massey is a great choice for Hawke’s Bay students because it is close enough to home while still providing the opportunity to gain independence. The university offers a range of specialised and prestigious degrees, including veterinary science, aviation, and agriculture.

The Careers Team, Mr Hill and Mrs Bradley, attended the Careers Advisor Day at EIT, which was both informative and enjoyable. EIT is right on our doorstep and back in a strong position after the decimation of Cyclone Gabrielle. It is known for its strong regional connections, practical, applied learning approach, and specialised programmes in areas such as viticulture and w**e science, trades, and health sciences, kaitiakitanga and environmental studies, AI, computers and robotics. It also offers highly regarded teaching and nursing programmes.

Darryn Redshaw, Student Engagement Manager from the University of Waikato, visited on Thursday to work with students on their course planning. This is always a valuable session, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, explore their options, and learn more about university study.

Careers in the Classroom
Option and course selections for 2027 are now LIVE and Year 10, 11 and 12 can do this on the portal. If they still need help then the “How to choose NCEA subjects” on www.tahatu.govt.nz is a great resource.

Captain Careers will now be visiting Year 9 students in Term 4 after they have completed the Ākina Man programme they are currently working on in Form Time.

Student Focus for Next Week
• Year 10-12 students – Course selection is now LIVE. Students can choose subjects through the portal
• Year 13 students: this week is a good week to research all about what you are going to do when you leave school: university, EIT, trades and jobs. If you are looking for work, register with sites like Trade Me and SEEK.
