❤️ BE PART OF BUILDING THE NEXT CHAPTER OF JAZZY'S
This is probably one of the hardest posts I've ever had to write.
If I'm completely honest... I feel whakamā.
Asking for help has never come naturally to me. Anyone who knows me knows I'm fiercely independent. I'm always the one who figures it out. Always hustling. Always finding another way.
But this time... I can't do it on my own.
The only thing standing between where I am now and where I know my business can be is pūtea.
Because of my bankruptcy, I can't access business lending or funding like most people can. I've explored every avenue I possibly can. I've looked into funding, waited on business partnerships, asked questions, and just kept working.
But I've reached the point where hard work alone isn't enough..
And that's really hard to admit.!
Because if I'm honest...
I hate feeling like I need help.
Working from home isn't just something I'm over anymore.
It's holding my business back.
But more than that...
It's mentally draining me.
If you know me, you know I'm normally bubbly. I'm always talking, laughing, lifting people up and making people feel good about themselves.
Lately... I can't even dress myself up how I usually do i take pride in my appearance usually.
I just haven't felt like me.
I've lost a bit of my spark.
And I miss her.
My clients come to me for beautiful hair and lashes, but I also know many of you come because of how I make you feel.
Right now, I don't feel like I'm giving you the very best version of me.
I want her back.
I want my home to be my home again.
I want to walk through my front door at the end of the day and actually switch off instead of feeling like I'm still at work.
I want my clients to walk into a beautiful, calm salon where they can completely relax without my bulldog deciding it's playtime or barking because she wants my attention. As much as I absolutely adore my fur babies, my clients deserve a peaceful, professional experience, and I want to give them exactly that.
But the biggest reason I need a salon isn't actually for me.
It's because it's the one thing stopping me from opening even bigger doors.
I've been working with schools about Gateway programmes.
I've spoken with iwi organisations and youth providers.
The response has been incredibly positive.
But before they can send students to me, they need to come and inspect do a site visit.
They need to know their students are learning in a professional salon and academy.
A home simply doesn't meet those requirements.
That means these incredible opportunities aren't being missed because I can't teach.
They're being missed because I don't yet have the space.
That's why this salon means so much to me.
It's the key that unlocks everything I've been working towards.
More education.
More opportunities.
More pathways for women.
More opportunities for rangatahi.
More impact in our community.
So... after days (and honestly weeks) of brainstorming, stressing, overthinking and trying to figure out another way...
I finally landed on an idea that I genuinely believe is a win win for everyone.
An idea that helps me get the funding I need to finally secure my salon and academy...
But also gives back to the people who have supported me all these years.
