Our Hastings kindergarten and childcare centre caters for tamariki aged 3 months – 6 years and we are open 7.30am-5.30pm, Monday – Friday.

Our centre promotes an inclusive environment where tamariki develop knowledge and understanding of NZ’s dual heritage, culture, language and identity as well as recognising the diverse cultures of our community. At Busy Bees Hastings, we believe that as an Early Education Centre we have an important part to play in our community and a very special opportunity to positively impact young children’s

lives in their early stages of development. With a safe and nurturing daycare environment for your child, we provide a place for children to learn, develop and grow through social interaction in an engaging environment, carefully set up by kaiako, with lots of opportunities to explore and learn.

💦☀️ Splashing into warmer days! ☀️💦

With the weather warming up, our Tamariki have been loving getting outside and exploring through water play! 🥰

What might look like simple splashing and pouring is actually filled with so much learning - developing fine and gross motor skills, exploring concepts like full and empty, heavy and light, floating and sinking. Most importantly it's about giving our tamariki the freedom to be curious, get a little messy and have FUN! 💙

Sunshine, Sand & Teamwork ☀️🌋

What a beautiful day enjoying the sunshine while having lots of fun in the sandpit working together as a team to create their very own volcano! 🌋

We've also been getting creative with our painting and making our own project to paint together. Enjoying the warmth and sun ☀️

Watching nature come to life! 🐦🍎🍊

Our tamariki had so much fun creating bird feeders using and apples and oranges. They carefully prepared their fruity feeders and then waited excitedly to see who would visit.

The children's faces lit up with amazement as all kinds of birds stopped by for a tasty treat. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about nature, practise caring for our environment, observe our feathered friends up close.

Hands-on learning, curious minds, and magical moments - what a beautiful way to connect with the world around us! 💚🌿

🎨🖌️ Little hands, big imaginations! 🖌️🎨

Today our little artists explored colours, textures, and creativity through sensory painting. There were smiles, messy hands, curious minds, and lots of fun as they discovered the joy of self-expression.

These experiences are so much more than just making a mess—they help develop fine motor skills, creativity, confidence, and a love of learning through play.

We absolutely love watching our little learners explore the world one colourful masterpiece at a time. 💜💙💚

🌟 Matariki 🌟

The past few weeks we have been learning about Matariki.
Doing arts and crafts, singing and dancing the Matariki macarena, face paint and more!
Our tamariki have had a blast and can't wait to show their whānau their work.

Someone was very interested in what was happening next door today! 💙
Our little friend loved watching the toddlers learn about and celebrate Matariki, and as soon as the Matariki Macarena started playing, he couldn't help but join in with some adorable dance moves! 💃⭐
Moments like these remind us that learning happens everywhere. Through music, movement, and watching others, our tamariki are building confidence, curiosity, and a sense of connection with the world around them.
We love seeing these joyful moments unfold. ✨

Splat-tastic day in our Kindy Room!

Today our tamariki had so much fun exploring with paint in a new exciting way!
We mixed colours, dyed cotton balls and watched with excitement as they popped out with a splat!
There were loads of smiles,laughter and colorful surprises along the way.

This hands on activity gave our tamariki the chance to enjoy the sensory feeling of paint while exploring cause and effect, creativity and learning through play.

We have been enoying the winter sunshine this week with our program. Ngā tamariki have been exploring different ways to move their bodies and follow the leader.
Through this active outdoor play we have been developing our balance,co-ordanation, confidencnce and imaginations while having fun together.
