🤧🤒 KNOW THE DIFFERENCE: COLD vs FLU

They may seem similar, but a cold and the flu can affect your body very differently.

A Cold usually develops gradually and often includes sneezing, a runny nose, mild tiredness, and a chesty cough.

The Flu tends to hit suddenly and can bring a high fever, severe body aches, extreme fatigue, and a persistent dry cough.

Knowing the difference can help you make informed decisions about rest, treatment, and when to seek medical advice.

⚠️ If symptoms are severe, persist, or you're concerned about yourself or a family member, contact your healthcare provider.

Take care of yourself and your whānau this flu season.

Today, my heart is overflowing with pride.

There are days in education that remind you exactly why you chose this path. Today was one of those days.

Our pōwhiri was nothing short of incredible. It wasn't orchestrated by adults or carried by staff—it was driven by our own tauira. They stood tall, embraced their culture, and represented Roberts Education with courage, humility, and mana.

To our boys who carried out the wero, you made us immensely proud. To our kai karanga, your voice touched every heart present. To everyone who stood together in waiata, your passion and unity filled the space with aroha. Watching each of you step into your roles with such confidence brought tears to my eyes.

Our manuhiri didn't just receive a welcome today—they experienced the heart and soul of Roberts Education.

People often see the end result, but they don't always see the journey. They don't see the hours of learning, the encouragement, the setbacks, the laughter, the tears, the awhi, the belief, and the unwavering support that goes into helping our rangatahi discover who they are and what they are capable of.

At Roberts Education, we are whānau. Every one of our tauira matters. They are not just students to us—they are our kids. We celebrate their successes, stand beside them through their challenges, and continue to believe in them, even when life is difficult. There are situations beyond our control, and not every journey is easy, but we will never stop giving our best. I don't give up on our kids unless they choose to give up on us first.
Today was proof of what can happen when young people are surrounded by people who believe in them.

To my incredible staff—thank you. Your dedication, patience, and love for our tauira shine through every single day. Today's success belongs to you as much as it belongs to our young people.

Together, we continue to create a place where our rangatahi feel seen, valued, and empowered to stand proudly in who they are.

To our beautiful tauira—thank you. Thank you for trusting us, for believing in yourselves, and for showing everyone the strength, resilience, and beauty that exists within each of you. You reminded us all today that our future is in good hands.

As Director of Roberts Education, I couldn't be prouder. Today wasn't just about a pōwhiri—it was about identity, belonging, leadership, and hope. It was a reminder that when we nurture our young people with aroha, high expectations, and unwavering belief, they will rise.
My cup is full. My heart is full.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa. ❤️🖤

This is a heartfelt acknowledgement to our three tama who stood strong and attended the very first Matarua Haaro o Te Kaahu Wānanga, held here in Ngāti Kahungunu, at Te Aranga Marae ki Pāharakeke. FORD, DEYTON and KARAITIANA.

What an out-of-this-world experience this has been. From the moment you stepped into this kaupapa, you showed courage, strength, and a willingness to grow, learn, and discover more of yourselves.

To our tama, we thank you deeply for showing up for yourselves first and foremost. That is one of the greatest wero we can face standing before our own challenges, confronting our own doubts, and continuing forward on our own journey of growth and healing. You stood tall, you gave it your all, and you overcame.

Throughout this wānanga, you have embodied the true values of wairua, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and uruora. You have shown your mana, your heart, and your ability to uplift and support one another.

It has been incredibly inspiring and humbling to witness you grow, to see you face your own wero, and to overcome the barriers that once stood in your way. You have shown that your past does not define you you have the power to create your own future.

Today, our three tama have been recognised as Pōu Rua Hōkairangi ki Te Whare Uruora a tohu of your commitment, your resilience, your strength, and the journey you have chosen to walk towards becoming tāne of mana.

Hold onto the māramatanga you have gained through this wānanga. Hold onto the bonds of whanaungatanga you have created. Hold onto the aroha, the strength, and the mana that you have brought into this kaupapa.

Our tama, we are immensely proud of you. Not only because of the achievement you have gained, but because of the men you are beginning to reveal yourselves to be.

Kia ū, kia kaha, kia manawanui.
You are the rangatira of tomorrow.

With deep appreciation, aroha, and pride ngā mihi nui to each and every one of you. 🙌✨️

Pānui Whakamutunga o te Wāhanga | End of Term Pānui

As we come to the end of another wāhanga, we take a moment to acknowledge Matariki—a special time to reflect on the year that has passed, celebrate the present, and look ahead with hope and purpose.

In the spirit of Matariki, we spent time reflecting with our tauira on the journey of this term. Together we celebrated our achievements, recognised the challenges we have overcome, shared our favourite memories, and set our wawata (aspirations) for the term ahead.

To celebrate an amazing term, our final day ended perfectly with a visit to Ocean Spa. It was a wonderful opportunity for our tauira to relax, have fun, strengthen our whanaungatanga, and celebrate everything they have accomplished throughout the term.

Ngā mihi nui to our tauira, whānau, and kaimahi for your dedication, resilience, manaakitanga, and unwavering support. We are incredibly proud of all that has been achieved together this term.

We wish everyone a safe and restful hararei, filled with aroha, laughter, and precious time with your loved ones.

Mānawatia a Matariki, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next wāhanga, refreshed, inspired, and ready for another exciting haerenga together.

Mauri ora ✨️🥰
