🌿 Join Our Caterpillar Whānau
Do you believe the very first years matter most?
At Central Hastings Early Learning Centre, we're looking for an incredible kaiako to join our Caterpillar Room team, caring for our youngest learners.
We're searching for someone who is warm, nurturing and passionate about building strong, responsive relationships with pēpi and their whānau. Someone who sees every cuddle, every conversation and every moment of care as an opportunity to help a child feel safe, secure and loved.
You'll be joining a supportive, experienced team with exceptional ratios, that values collaboration, laughter, continuous learning and putting tamariki at the heart of everything we do.

If you're:
🦋 A qualified ECE kaiako (or soon to be)
🦋 Passionate about infant and toddler care
🦋 A team player who values genuine relationships
🦋 Looking for a centre where you can truly make a difference
..we'd love to hear from you.

📞 The call nobody likes making… or receiving.
As we head deeper into winter illness season, our latest monthly blog talks about one of the hardest parts of ECE - the phone call to let whānau know their child is unwell and needs to go home.

We know these calls can be stressful and inconvenient, especially when work, transport, and life are already busy. But keeping sick tamariki home (and supporting them to head home when they become unwell at Centre) helps protect everyone in our learning community — including our pēpi, pregnant māmā, immunocompromised whānau, and kaiako. ❤️

Our latest blog explores:
🌡 Why we make the call
🦠 How illness spreads so quickly in ECE
💛 The balance between compassion and responsibility

Today we celebrate the māmā, stepmums, grandmothers, aunties, foster mums, whāngai māmā, caregivers, and all those quietly doing the “mum thing” every single day. 💐
The ones who show up. The ones who hold it together. The ones who love fiercely, nurture gently, advocate loudly, and somehow still remember where everyone’s shoes are. 😅
To the women raising babies, raising grandchildren, raising nieces and nephews, raising tamariki not born from them but loved like their own, we see you.
To those missing their mums today, or carrying complicated feelings, we hold space for you too.
Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mothering heart. Your love shapes generations.

Today we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and service of those who came before us. On ANZAC Day, we reflect, we give thanks and we stand together, in remembrance.

Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou
