We had a very busy term 2. It is great to see so many students achieving their certificates, and we are delighted to share that Queen Charlotte College and Western Heights High School have students who completed the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported learners. SPEC's sensory certificate is for students who 'experience' learning rather than fully participate in learning. The sensory modules provide a framework for students to demonstrate and record their sensory experiences. There is a huge selection of modules to choose from.

This certificate provides an appropriate pathway for all students who fall into the supported learning category. The SPEC Certificate in Key Competency Development is for students who are working towards Level 1 of the NZC and require ongoing support throughout their education. The suggested timeframe for achieving this certificate would range between 2-3 years as it has a personal development focus.

These two NEW New Zealand qualifications are available for students at school who are struggling with NCEA level 1.
(NCEA Level 1 is bench marked at Level 6 NZC).
SPEC has developed NZQA approved programmes for BOTH of these qualifications to be delivered in a school setting and without using unit standards.
The Foundation Skills qualification is for students working at Levels 3-5 of the NZC.
The Skills for Living qualification is for students working at levels 1-2 of the NZC and require on going support.
