Looks at these beautiful knitted garments. We had a visit this morning from Sandra from Yarn HB and her wonderful army of knitters the 'Yarny Army" are going to be knitting for our mums and their tamariki. What a wonderful initiative and will be greatly appreciated by our tamariki, especially in winter.

A big thank you to Trust House for their kind donation, which enabled us to purchase sunshades for our outside environment. These will keep our children shaded from our harsh Hawkes Bay sun. Once again thank you Trust House

Kia ora kotou,
The Friday before the end of term, the kaiako, whanau and tamariki went on a hikoi to Flaxmere Park. We think it is important to connect with our neighbourhood and experience what it has to offer. So...off we all went to enjoy the swings, slide, cars and climbing equipment at Flaxmere Park. How awesome to have Rylees Mummy, Daddy and Nanny join us. That was especially special for Rylee! We plan to get out and about more often so if anyone has any ideas of places to go...please share with us!

Kia Ora Whanau,

Our tamariki have been really interested in witches, skeletons, zombies, ghosts and vampires recently (influenced by a child who had seen the Hotel Transylvania movie). To support their developing interest we have introduced a new song called Dem Bones that we discovered on You tube. Clink on the link so you can watch with your child, it's a very catchy tune and the tamariki love it! Thanks Cath

A super simple song for learning parts of the body. Great for Halloween, or anytime of the year! iTunes: http://bit.ly/TheSkeletonDance_iTunes Amazon: http:/...

The kaiako celebrate children's learning and development by writing stories in their profile books. We encourage parents to share stories from home too. I am excited to say that one of our Mama's, has written her very first story for her sons book and is already working on her second! Tu meke! That's awesome!
We are proud of our tamariki when they achieve their goals and developmental milestones, and excited when new interests are sparked as a result of their learning. The other day I saw a group of children checking out their stories hanging on the wall and engaging in conversation. That was a special moment and shows these stories are important to our children too!

On Friday 22nd September our tamariki and their parents and kaiako attended The Polyfest at Heretaunga Intermediate school in Hastings. What an awesome display of Pasifica music and dance performed by some very enthusiastic children from schools in and around the Hawkes Bay. It was great to get out of the centre and enjoy music and dance from our Pasifica peoples. We will be back again next year for sure!

Bobby and Bambi continued…after a slow welcome into the centre, Bobby and Bambi got the ‘all clear’ from a few of our tamariki. A couple of comments made by Jevita was, “eww what’s that?” and “oohh it’s scarey” After much conversations over the two animal skulls, some of the tamariki were brave enough to touch and talk up close. We understand that tamariki make sense of the natural, physical, social and material worlds through their experiences and curiosity. Mana Aoturoa is active exploration that continues everywhere and anywhere.
