🌟 RHS Sport - People of the Week! 🌟

This week we wanted to acknowledge our 1st XI Hockey Coaches: Rudi Bosman (Mario) and Chad Payne (Luigi) who take our girls team, and Carmelo Maynard-holm and Alex Wilton who take the boys.

Thank you for braving the cold winter mornings and nights, and investing your time and energy into the development of some of our school's top hockey players!

To help us show our appreciation, our sponsors at The Keg Room have kindly given us some $20 vouchers to pass on to you πŸ™Œ

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou!

NFL Flag Football 15U Nationals 🀩🏈

An epic couple of days in the capital for our RHS 15U Flag Football team last week!

After taking out the Waikato Bay of Plenty regionals a few weeks ago, our ākonga were flown down to Wellington in an all expenses paid trip to compete in the NZ Nationals! Travelling teams were put up at the incredible NZCIS facility, where we took part in training sessions run by NZ representatives and other team building activities, followed by the tournament the following day.

Our team started off strong, winning our first two games and finishing second in our pool. A tough quarter final against eventual bronze medalists meant we missed out on making top 4, but our team continued to give it their all, finishing 6th in NZ overall πŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ….

This trip was an unforgettable experience for our team, with many core memories, new friendships and connections made!

We’d like to give a huge shoutout to team coach, Pene Kaisala, for his support and expertise over the last couple of months, as well as to all the whānau who travelled down to support us from the sidelines 🫢🏽.

And finally, a big ngā mihi to nflflagaunz and their staff, for hosting our team and giving our ākonga the experience of a lifetime πŸ™ŒπŸ½.

Hopefully we get to do it all again next year πŸ‰πŸ†πŸ€žπŸ½

🏐 Netball Spotlights 🏐

🏐Senior Hammerheads:
The team has had a fantastic start to the season, consistently improving every week and continuing to grow together as a team.

Last week, in pouring rain, they secured an incredible one-goal victory over HGHS after trailing by 9 goals at halftime! These girls truly know how to rally together, support one another, and rise to the challenge when it matters most.

🏐Yr7 Kahikatea:
This team has had an outstanding start to the season, winning all three of their games and currently sitting 1st on the B Grade ladder.

The girls have demonstrated exceptional determination, sportsmanship, and commitment throughout the season so far. Their hard work at training and positive attitude on the court are clearly reflected in their results, and they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved to date.

We look forward to watching their continued growth, development, and success throughout the rest of the season.

Keep up the hard work!πŸ’ͺ🏽🏐

Jacob Solly – Counties Gymnastics Championships

A fantastic start to the competition season for Jacob at the Counties Gymnastics Championships in Auckland, where he competed in his first Level 6 competition. His dedication and hard work in training shone through, delivering an impressive performance across all six apparatus.

Jacob achieved podium finishes on three events, claiming 1st place on High Bar, equal 3rd on Parallel Bars, and 3rd on Vault. He also finished an outstanding 4th overall in a strong field of competitors.

To top off a successful weekend, Jacob achieved qualification for the Gymnastics NZ National Championships with a score of 62.75 β€” a fantastic achievement and one he can be incredibly proud of. Congratulations, Jacob! πŸ…πŸ‘
