❄️ 5.30am. Minus 4 degrees. On the track.
That's Lily Frederikson's (Year 13) reality three mornings a week as she completes her Gateway placement at Forsman Racing, working toward her Slow Trackwork Licence - then it's straight to school by 8am.
Gateway connects our senior students with quality, structured workplace learning alongside their studies. Proud of you, Lily!

Dance NZ Made 2026
Dance NZ Made was held over the weekend at Cambridge High School, with dancers from across the region. So proud of our dancers who competed in various sections.
This year Dance NZ Made partnered with the NZ School of Dance — connecting them to our 4,000+ young dancers across Aotearoa! "Together, we're creating clearer pathways for young dancers — showing them what a future in the arts can look like."
Perpetua Doohan and Arianna Fernandes both performed solos on Saturday night — beautifully danced and choreographed.
🏅 Arianna — 2nd place, Contemporary Solo
Sainted Hearts Jazz Troupe and Sainted Hearts Lyrical Troupe both had many first-time competitors, who had a fabulous time and really connected as a group. This year we also had the privilege of Oliver Johnson from St John's College, Hamilton joining the Sainted Hearts Lyrical Troupe.
🎟️ Year 9 Willow Arnold-Galo and Oliver Johnson both won one of only 9 given out across the region, earning them a spot at Nationals in Palmerston North!
🎟️ Willow also received a New Zealand School of Dance Invitation Award, inviting her to a weekend of workshops with the NZ School of Dance.
Congratulations to all our dancers — what an incredible weekend!

🖤 Two Georgias, two black kits, two incredible achievements for our Sacred Heart alumnae!
Georgia Kendrick (2021 - 2025) has continued her rowing success, wrapping up a campaign over the weekend at the U19 World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria. She and her crew fought hard through the heats to finish a commendable 3rd in the B Final.
Meanwhile, Georgia Clarkin-Rush (2012 - 2016) proudly wore the silver fern as a member of the NZ Lacrosse Women's team at the World Lacrosse Div 2 World Cup in Poland in July, helping the team to a 3rd place finish. Georgia was also honoured as one of just four players chosen to lead the haka gifted to the team at the start of the games.
Two incredible achievements, two proud alumnae - congratulations, Georgia and Georgia!

Connection is something we think about a lot here at Sacred Heart. Once our students leave us - whether to further study or wherever life takes them - we want to stay part of their journey. So when an ex-student reaches out with news like this, we couldn't wait to share it.
Sarah Healy (Deputy Head Girl, 2024) left us these words in the 2024 School Magazine: "Always aim high, set goals, show resilience and dedication, and the rest will follow. Hard work is the key to success, so stay persistent and don't be scared by obstacles in your way."
We're so pleased to see that she's living by these words two years down the track - and wrapped to see her love for rowing has stayed with her since her SHGC days. Sarah has just returned from Sydney, where she competed for the NZ Universities Rowing Team against their Australian counterparts. Sarah's currently studying Civil Engineering at Auckland University - Proud doesn't quite cover it. ❤
