LC4 - Sharing of Learning. Last Thursday, we welcomed our whānau into LC4 to celebrate this term's learning about courage. Students have been exploring courageous people from around the world and the historical events they were part of, and they were excited to proudly share their work and thinking with their families. Thank you to all our whānau who joined us. Your support means so much to our tamariki, and we are very proud of our LC4 students' efforts this term.

Kia ora e te Whānau,

Our school was buzzing with creativity, colour, and incredible stories today as we brought our favourite book characters to life for Book Week! A huge thank you to all our tamariki and whānau for the amazing effort put into today’s dress-ups — the costumes were absolutely outstanding!

Congratulations to our LC best-dressed winners, who were announced at the end of the day.

We also finished the term with a fun-filled full school assembly, where we celebrated some of the wonderful successes and achievements of our tamariki from the past few weeks. It was a great way to come together and recognise all the hard work, effort, and talent across our school! 👏🎉

🙏 Today our Marian whānau gathered for our End of Term Mass, celebrating our Gospel Value of Live Community. Father Darren spoke about the Beatitudes and encouraged us to focus on others and the relationships we build with them.

After Mass, we gathered for the blessing of our Saints Garden, which honours our five house patrons: Euphrasie Barbier, Marcellin Champagnat, St Thérèse of Lisieux, St Thomas Aquinas and St Peter Chanel. 🌿

Thank you, Father Darren, for leading these special celebrations. Thank you also to the students who served and helped during Mass, and to everyone who helped bring the garden to life.

May this garden remind us to care for one another and to be the hands, face and voice of Jesus. 💙

This morning, we welcomed LC3 whānau into classes to see their children’s Term 3 learning. Tamariki have had a wonderful term exploring courageous New Zealanders and a range of characters from different stories. They have also learned different strategies they can use in challenging situations and have had many opportunities to put these into practice through Cross Country, Poetry Recital and Winter Sports with the Year 12 students from St John’s. They also reflected on their progress and growth throughout the term.

Ngā mihi nui to all the whānau who were able to join us today. It was wonderful to share their learning and celebrate their progress together.

Today we celebrated our learning in LC2 with our very own Courage Museum!

Our students proudly shared their carefully created exhibits about a courageous person or character they had chosen. Our museum featured courageous people from the Bible, fairy tale characters, courageous New Zealanders, and people in courageous professions.

It was wonderful to welcome our whānau into our classrooms to see the learning we have been working on throughout the term and to hear our students share what they have discovered about courage and the impact courageous choices can have on others.

A huge thank you to all of our whānau who came along and supported our learners. It was so special to have you share in this celebration of their learning! 💛

On Thursday 17 September, our Senior Enviro-Army had an awesome day out with Miss Scott, Mrs Strongman, Mr Gregan and Mrs Palmer!

We were lucky to visit Treadlite in Cambridge, where students got to see first-hand how old tyres are processed and recycled. We then explored Lake Te Koo Utu with an Enviro scavenger hunt before finishing our day at The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum, where Alex from Enviroschools Waikato joined us for a nature walk and nature art activity. A fantastic day of learning, exploring and connecting with the environment!

This morning LC1 and whanau came together for a special celebration of our term 3 learning. This term we have been learning about Courage/ Kia Maia. We have enjoyed sharing stories, talking and writing about people we know who have shown courage in different ways. We chose a person to create a portrait of, for our Art Exhibition. We are so proud of all our work this term and we are trying to show courage too, when things feel a bit scary or difficult. We know that we can ask God to help us to be brave. Tino pai to mahi LC1, you are all superstar learners! 🌟

This term, our LC3 tamariki have enjoyed working with St John’s Year 12 PE students during sport time. The St John’s students have had the opportunity to develop their coaching skills, while our tamariki have loved being coached and learning new skills.

On Friday, the St John’s students finished their coaching sessions by running a mini tournament. It was a great opportunity for our tamariki to put their new skills into action. They showed plenty of courage, resilience and enthusiasm as they took part and supported one another throughout the games.

Ngā mihi nui to the St John’s boys for their time, encouragement and enthusiasm. They have been fantastic role models for our tamariki, and we have really enjoyed having them with us this term.

🌏💙 Social Justice Week at Marian 💙🌏

This week, our tamariki have been learning about fairness, peace, kindness and belonging.

Our wonderful Special Character Leaders led us in a meaningful liturgy on Monday, created inspiring chalk messages on Tuesday, and visited LC1, LC2 and LC3 classrooms to lead special prayer sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

Across the school, classes created paper dolls and paper chains to celebrate the many ways we belong and are connected to one another.

May we continue to follow Jesus’ example by standing up for what is right and treating every person with dignity, love and respect. 🙏✨
