Newsletter: Week 4, Term 3, 2026 Principal Reflection

Last Thursday, our LC5 students competed in the Cath Math Competition, showcasing their problem-solving and teamwork.

Congratulations to our Year 8 team for placing 1st in the Year 8 competition and our Year 7 team for placing 2nd in the Year 7 competition.

A fantastic achievement for both teams! We wish them all the very best as they head to the WaiMath Competition this Thursday!

Cross Country this Thursday!

Our whole‑school Cross Country is set for Thursday, 13 August, with Friday as our postponement day if the weather doesn’t play ball. Races begin at 10:35am, with Year 0–4 starting from no earlier than 12pm. (Please note: a call will be made by 7am on Thursday if we need to move the event due to weather)

Families are welcome to come along and cheer. We’ll have a coffee cart for spectators, plus a sausage sizzle and juices available.

Please make sure students are prepared for the weather; a school jersey or jacket for before and after their run, good running shoes, and a named water bottle are essential.

Looking forward to a great day of effort, fun, and school spirit.

📖🌟 National Bible Quiz! 🌟📖

Over the weekend, Ashlyn had the opportunity to compete in the National Bible Quiz alongside her three teammates.

Competing in the Golden Category, the team placed an impressive 4th! 🎉

A fantastic achievement and a great day of fun, excitement and a few nerves!

🙏 This weekend, we were blessed to celebrate a very special milestone for a group of our Marian tamariki who have been taking part in the RCIC programme at the Cathedral.

At the Saturday Vigil Mass, these students received the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion. What a beautiful and significant step in their hīkoi wairua. ⛪

💛 We congratulate each of you on your commitment to becoming Catholic and continuing to grow in your relationship with Jesus. We are so proud to celebrate this special moment with you as part of our Marian whānau.

💙A heartfelt thank you also goes to Andrea, who has faithfully led, prepared, and supported the group throughout their journey.

🌏💙 Another warm welcome to our newest international student! 💙🌏

Today, we were excited to welcome another new international student to our Marian whānau. At our school liturgy this morning, we gave him a special welcome alongside one of his new friends from his class. 💛✨

We hope your time at Marian is filled with wonderful learning, new friendships, and many happy memories. We are so happy to have you with us! 🌟

We’re celebrating some wonderful achievements from our Marian dancers at the DanceNZMade Waikato Regional competition!

Ophelia Arnold‑Galo choreographed and performed her own solo last weekend. She received fantastic feedback from the judges and was named the Year 7 Solo Champion, an incredible achievement.

Clara and Magdalene also represented Marian beautifully, competing in the interschool competition and winning the Year 3–6 Duo/Trio Champion award.

All three students have now qualified for the DanceNZMade Nationals in September. We’re so proud of their creativity, courage, and commitment. Congratulations, Ophelia, Clara, and Magdalene!

What an incredible day at our LC5 Solo Singing Auditions! 🎤

A huge congratulations to all of our students who had the courage to step onto the stage and share their talents. The standard was exceptionally high this year, making it a very difficult job for our judges.

A heartfelt thank you to our judges for generously giving their time, expertise, and thoughtful feedback throughout the day.

Today, another of our amazing Year 4 students, Leo, proudly received his Gold Charism Certificate and Circle Badge. This special milestone recognises his commitment to living our Marian Charism and Gospel Values each day. Leo is a kind, caring, and thoughtful role model who is always ready to lend a helping hand. 💛✨
