Exploring, creating, and learning together 🎨

Today our tamariki enjoyed painting in the water trough as a group experience. Through this sensory play, they were developing creativity, communication, turn-taking, and teamwork while exploring colours, textures, and cause-and-effect.

These moments support confidence, curiosity, and social connections as tamariki learn through play alongside their peers ✨

Today our tamariki proudly celebrated Pink Shirt Day by wearing pink and taking part in creative activities together. It was wonderful to see everyone sharing smiles, caring for their friends, and embracing the message that we are all unique and special.

Thank you to all our whānau for supporting this meaningful day and helping us spread kindness throughout our learning community. 🌸💕

Kia ora whānau,

My name is Charne, and I’m the Centre Manager here at Brightlands.

I’ve been working in ECE for almost 16 years, and it’s something I’m really passionate about. I truly love being part of children’s learning journeys and seeing them grow, explore, and build confidence in their own unique ways. I’m especially passionate about creating a warm, safe, and nurturing environment where children feel a real sense of belonging, and where their interests, cultures, and personalities are valued and celebrated.

I live in Putāruru and will be moving back to Hamilton soon. I am married and have two boys, Jonah and Jordan who some of you may know as they’ve done their own learning journeys here at Brightlands, which makes being part of this centre even more special to me.

I’ve really loved my first few weeks back, seeing familiar faces again and also meeting new children and whānau. Thank you all for being so warm and welcoming.

Kia Ora Whānau,

Our tamariki have been very busy this week exploring their favourite painting and sensory experiences!

They enjoyed painting on foil paper, creating special Mother’s Day artwork with paint, and stamping beautiful rose flowers. The tamariki were also excited to explore frozen coloured water shaped mini creatures from the ice trays, using their curiosity and problem-solving skills to investigate and play with the icy dinosaur and bear shapes.
