We love 'Kaiako Jobs' around here - we have so many helpful tamariki, even when the jobs are tricky. Bringing the drink bottles into the kai room is a daily job and 90% of the time, the tamariki are leading it. But the bottles are heavy! The basket always requires at least two set of hands, sometimes up to 5!

This is problem solving, perseverance, collaboration, and mana in action. Tamariki who are trusted with real responsibility rise to it. Every single time 🐝

Shared reading like this is so rich - taking turns with pages, negotiating the story, checking in with each other about what's happening 🌿 Language, listening, connection, early literacy.

We don't always need to be part of the moment. Sometimes the best thing we do is set the space and let tamariki find each other in it 🐝

Not talking much. Not needing to. Just digging, alongside each other, in the same direction 🌿

Parallel play and collaborative play sit right next to each other in the sandpit - and both matter 💙 Two tamariki who choose to be beside each other, who match each other's rhythm, who build something together without a single argument about the plan? That's friendship doing its quiet thing 🌿

We love the sandpit for this. It just brings people together 🐝

Soapy water. Scrubbers. A fleet of very dirty cars and a tamaiti absolutely ready for the job 😂

This kind of play hits everything - fine motor, cause and effect, real world role play, sensory regulation 🌿 But mostly? It's just deeply satisfying to scrub something clean and see the difference your hands made 💙

The relationship between kaiako and pēpi is something we don't take lightly around here. That smile - on BOTH sides - doesn't just happen. It's built. Through consistency, through warmth, through showing up the same way every single day 🌿

Secure attachment in the early years isn't a nice-to-have. It's the foundation everything else gets built on 💙 And we are so proud of the relationships our kaiako grow 🐝

Happy Father's Day 🫶

To the papā who do the morning drop off still half asleep ☕ The koro who show up every single time. The uncles who are somehow always the favourite. The father figures who didn't have to, but did anyway 💙

The tamariki in our care are who they are because of the people who love them at home 🌿 We see it every day - in the way they talk about you, the way they light up when you walk through the door, the way they carry your love with them right into our space 🥹
