Get ready for some exciting news that is going to make school mornings easier, healthier, and much cheaper for everyone!
Starting this week, Whitiora School is introducing a brand-new way of eating together. Every single student will be enjoying our delicious, hot school lunches each day—which means no more packing lunchboxes at home!
🌟 Why We Are Making the Switch
We are super excited about this change, and here is why it’s a massive win for our tamariki and whānau:
Save Big on Groceries: You no longer need to buy extra lunch food for school. That’s a huge saving for your household budget every week!
Healthy, Brain-Power Fuel: Our lunches are packed with tasty, nutritious ingredients designed to keep your kids full, energised, and focused on their learning all day long.
Easier School Mornings: Say goodbye to the morning rush of making kai. Just get the kids ready, send them off, and we’ll handle the rest!
Whanaungatanga (Community): Eating the exact same meal together builds connection, teamwork, and a sense of togetherness across our whole school.
🥗 What This Means for You
All Whitiora students will be expected and provided for to eat our nutritious school lunches every day. Because full, healthy meals are provided at school, students no longer need to bring lunch from home.
💬 Want to Chat?
We know changes to food routines can bring up questions, and I’m always here to talk! If you have any questions, dietary concerns, or just want to chat about how our school lunch program works let us know.

🚧Car Park Notice 🚧
Kia ora whānau,
To help keep our tamariki, whānau, and staff safe, the gravel car park is now strictly for staff parking only.
We have recently had a number of near misses involving vehicles in this area. Cones have been placed at the entrance to stop parent and caregiver vehicles from entering. Please do not drive around, move, or remove the cones.
We kindly ask all parents and caregivers to use the main car park and designated drop-off and pick-up areas.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to keep our school community safe.

Kia ora Whitiora School whānau,
Over the past two weeks, we have had a small number of families advise us that their child had chickenpox. At that stage, there was not enough information to suggest there was an outbreak within our school.
However, over the weekend we received confirmation from several more families that their children have now been diagnosed with chickenpox. Based on this, we wanted to make all families aware that chickenpox appears to be circulating within our school community.
Please monitor your child for symptoms, including a fever, feeling unwell, and an itchy blister-like rash.
If your child develops symptoms or is diagnosed with chickenpox, please:
Keep them at home while they have active chickenpox blisters.
Notify the school as soon as possible so we can monitor the situation and support our school community.
For more information about chickenpox, including symptoms, treatment, or how to care for your child please use the link below.
