BIOZONE
Inspiring better outcomes for our planet through science education
Available in USA | UK | EU | NZ | AU
BIOZONE was founded by a high school biology teacher who recruited a team of academics, researchers, teachers, and designers to help adapt what he has learned in the classroom to develop a suite of resources that meet the very real needs of teachers and students worldwide. Coming from a teaching background, BIOZONE understands the challenges of teaching biology.
It's time for Brain Bites!
The Integumentary system is constantly working behind the scenes to regulate body temperature, absorb sunlight, and protect nearly every other system in the body.
Use this as a quick refresher, a lesson starter, or a way to connect structure to function across multiple systems.
Built from BIOZONE resources to make complex concepts simple, visual, and classroom-ready.

With Artemis II crew safely back on Earth, history has just unfolded in real time. 🚀🌍 It's an amazing real-world example of physics, human biology, engineering, and problem-solving all working together.
Back in the classroom, it opens up rich discussion opportunities:
• What challenges do astronauts face on return to Earth?
• How does the human body respond to microgravity and re-entry?
• What technologies make deep space travel possible?
Moments like this are where science becomes tangible, connecting theory to real missions, real people, and real outcomes.
👉 How would you use Artemis II as a teaching moment?

🐜 2,000 ants. One week. A digital library of life.
The AntScan team have achieved a major milestone: scanning thousands of ant specimens in just one week using high-throughput 3D imaging technology.
Each specimen is captured in incredible detail, building one of the most advanced digital biodiversity libraries to date.
Why it matters: This kind of technology is transforming how we study life; making it easier to compare species, track evolution, and preserve fragile specimens without handling them.
👉 Classroom idea: How could digital specimens change the way we classify and study organisms?
Platform: AntScan

For every adaptation to catch… there’s an adaptation to escape. It's predator vs prey.
Use this Brain Bite as a lesson starter, a quick discussion prompt, or a way to hook students before diving deeper.
Built from the pages of BIOZONE: made to bring science to life in your classroom.
Looks like a normal science book, right? Zoom in. 👀
Suddenly you’re finding diagrams, animations, explanations, activities, and little details designed to keep curious minds engaged.
That’s the thing about BIOZONE books: the deeper you look, the more there is to discover.
Mosquitoes biting humans might be a 2-million-year-old problem.😭
Recent genetic evidence suggests some mosquitoes switched from feeding on primates to early human ancestors between 2.9 and 1.6 million years ago.
Today only about 100 of the ~3,600 mosquito species bite humans, but this ancient host switch helped shape the spread of diseases like malaria.
It’s a fascinating example of how species movements can drive evolutionary change in other organisms.
❓ Classroom question: How can the arrival of a new species trigger evolutionary change in another?
News report: Tom Metcalfe, Science News.Journal reference: Singh et al., Scientific Reports.
When we say “by teachers, for teachers”, we mean it literally.
Our authors' real classroom experience shapes our every resource: from what gets included to how lessons actually work when the bell rings.
Built by teachers who know the pressures. Designed to save time, spark curiosity, and make science easier to teach.

Calling all experienced science teachers👩🏫👨🏫
You’ve seen curriculum changes, new tech, new cohorts… and you’ve definitely picked up a few hard-earned tricks along the way.
If you could pass on one piece of advice to a newer science teacher, what would it be?
Drop it in the comments and help out the next generation of science teachers 💛 🧪
Sorry to break it to you…
but lobsters don’t actually mate for life. 🥲
Phoebe Buffay has led us all astray. Here we bust a pop culture myth and show you which animals really stick with one partner for the long haul (yes, there are some true romantics out there 🐧🦢).
Save this for your evolution or behaviour unit, or use it as a fun hook to get students curious.
