~~TAI ORA HUIHUINGA SYMPOSIUM 2026~~

Our Year 12 & 13 taiohi had the privilege of attending this special annual event at Te Papanui (Globox) Arena. Organised and planned, by Ngati Wairere this day out included:

Inspiring Keynotes: We heard from guest speakers who shared their experiences with our rangatahi.

Pathway Connections: Provided an opportunity for students to engage with exhibitors from various industries.

Whanaungatanga: We strengthened our network with other schools and kura from across the region to share ideas and successes.

We also won a few prizes along the way: caps, basketballs, drink bottles and pukapuka for those who were brave enough to share their talents on stage!

Recently, our Koorero Tuku Iho class went on a class haerenga to view the blockbuster film 'Odyssey' by award winning director Christopher Nolan. Here is some of their koorero about the film.

"One of the things I liked about this movie was the theme. It is based on this old book from over a thousand years ago, based on ancient Greek mythology. The theme is based on guilt and consequence, as Odysseus sees the results of the Trojan war and what happened to the city of Troy on the quest of the Trojan horse. I also liked the quests they went on, like what happened with the cyclops and how it sounded and looked, and how they barely used CGI."

"Overall this movie was truly an odyssey (pun intended) and very good.
I would Recommend this film for people who like Action, Adventure, Fantasy, and Greek mythology."
