🎶 Congratulations to our Barbershop Quartet singers who have had some incredible results at the National Young Singers in Harmony Barbershop Competition this week! 🙌🏼

🥇 Gold Medal: Barbershop Quartet ‘Fourtunes’: 1st in the Upper Voices Category, and awarded ‘Most Improved Upper Voice Quartet’

🥇 Gold Medal: Pier Uruamo singing with ‘Indecisive Quartet’: 1st in the Mixed Voices Quartet Category

💫 Congratulations to Zoe and Tasha Moran who represented HGHS recently at the North Islands Secondary School Ski and Snowboarding Competition, amongst students from over 60 schools in the North Island!

🥇🥈 Zoe won 1st in the Senior Girls Snowboard Slope Style and 2nd in the Senior Girls Snowboard Giant Slalom! Tasha was entered in the Girls Ski Slopestyle, and the Junior Girls Ski Giant Slalom, a competitive division with over 20 girls skiing in it. She gained a participation award, and did extremely well in her Ski Open Women’s Giant Slalom.

🙌🏼 We are so proud to have these two students representing HGHS on the slopes! Ngā mihi to Ms Victoria Allison for getting the girls to and from the event, and to TIC and team Manager, Mrs Fanning for their contribution and support. 👏🏼

🎶 Recently some of our students, and staff, were involved in a concert performing alongside Hollie Smith! The performance was recorded and released as part of an album organised by Amplify Aotearoa and can be purchased at JBHifi from 20 November! Congratulations again to the students involved! 💫

🩰 Last weekend, 40 HGHS dancers travelled to Palmerston North for Dance NZ Made Nationals, representing the school with pride across all of their performances. The girls came away with some exceptional results!

💫 Solos:
Year 9 Solo: 4th place – Atairangi Kipa (own choreography)
Year 11 Solo: 2nd place – Jamie-Lee Paikea (own choreography)

💫 Duos & Trios:
Year 11–13 Duo/Trio: 4th place – Holly Hayward, Danica Raethel & Bella Edge (self-choreographed lyrical trio)

💫 Troupes:
Our student-led Hip Hop, Junior, and Jazz troupes delivered incredible, high-energy performances. A special congratulations to our 23-dancer Jazz Troupe (choreographed by students Kyla Robertson & Jamie-Lee Paikea), who took 2nd place in the Open category (out of 23 teams) and 5th place overall across the entire National competition!

🙌🏼 It was a huge weekend for our dancers, teachers and support crew! We are so proud of how our students represented HGHS on and off the stage.

👏🏼 Their performances were exceptional, every dancer pushed beyond their limits and left everything on the stage!
